More about Riad Safa

It's all true

by TripAdvisor Member forgetful_cat_London

We always use and rely on Trip Adviser and are delighted to report that this riad is a really beautiful and peaceful bit of paradise in the maze of craziness that is Marrakesh.

Fred and Jean-Pierre (and also Piggy and Kermit, the (extremely well-trained) dog and cat) are wonderful hosts, and so helpful.
Fred gave us numerous tips on fab places to eat, and we had a really great time. We wish we could have stayed longer - and the brand-new refurbed hammam is superb!

We stayed for three nights in the Catalina room which was the cheapest (smallest) room at 59 euros (a bargain); cute but perfectly-formed and with its own balcony looking out over an orange tree - how perfect is that!

Perhaps if you are staying for a whole week or longer the call to prayer might get a little bit annoying (6am) but it's all part of the authentic experience!

Fred and Jean-Pierre, photos of your gorgeous pets will follow when I've uploaded them, and long may you stay at the #1 spot - well-deserved!

Excellent Choice

by TripAdvisor Member Brutonians

Just returned from Marrakech and a 4 day stay at the wonderful Riad Safa. Its all been said before and its all true. Fred, Jean-Michel, Kermit (kitten) and Peggy (puppy) are wonderful hosts and the Riad itself is very tastefully decorated and a very relaxing place to return to after the madness of the Souks.

Although Riads may not be the ideal choice when travelling with children, our two boys (8 and 11) were warmly welcomed and very well looked after.

The food was excellent, breakfasts huge (no lunch required!) and we'd highly recommend staying in for an evening meal at least once during a stay. Plenty of space to spread out - I particularly recommend the cosy living room with roaring fire and music on the stereo if you're planning a winter visit!

Can't think of anything negative to say - we are already planning our next trip!

Nice oasis in the heart of the city

Fantastic! We spent three nights and everything was wonderful. The riad is peaceful and the owners very very friendly. You have 15 minutes walking to Jemma el Fna square, crossing the markets. They also cook really well! We recomend everybody to have dinner one night in the riad. We hope to come back again. Buen viaje y bon appétit!. Elena y Juan

Perfect choice...

Stayed at Riad Safa for 3 nights at the end of February. Chose the riad after reading other reviews on tripadvisor and am pleased to say we were not disappointed. The Safa was beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean - the roof terrace (and hamman) was wonderful!

The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable.

The Safa is in an excellent location and only a short walk from the Marrakesh museum, Koranic school, Souks and main square (though if you manage not to get lost anyway you will have done better than us:)

A Wondeful Experience

by TripAdvisor Member S&Mholidays

We've just returned from a six night stay at the Riad Safa and really can't recommend it enough.

The owners Frederic and Jean-Michel went to great lengths to make us feel at home, and thus the riad became a calming oasis to return to after the hussle-bussle of Marrakech.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and prepared. The terrace is a lovely place to sit after the many extended walks (and one can relax further in the jacuzzi or the hamman). Whatever we needed, whatever enquiry we might have, the owners and staff did their utmost to help.

The food was fantastic, with a fruit/Moroccan pancakes/toast/cake breakfast the perfect way to start each day - and there was pleasing variety in it's exact contents and preparation. The evening meals were of an incredibly high standard and outdid nearly every restaurant we ate in. For your first night I would strongly recommend asking for dinner when you reserve your room, or asking Frederic to book you a table at the local Fondouk restaurant, which is just around the corner (and is stunning both in design and food quality).

I can't overstress how welcome we were made to feel, and how quickly you start to feel part of the family.

One note of mild caution. The owners have two (great fun) pets; the over-curious Kermit the cat and the slightly more shy Piggy the dog. They're lovely pets and help to make you feel at home, but you should be aware of this if you suffer from any animal hair allergy problems.

It was a wonderful stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

deserves all the plaudits

Just having returned home I would like to add to the paean of praises already heaped on Riad Safa. Who could do otherwise?

The Riad itself is stunningly decorated - you step through the door into a hidden and very sophisticated and comfortable oasis on the other side.

Much is due to the welcome, unfailing courtesy, helpfulness and charm of the owners: Jean-Michel and Frederick for which nothing is too much trouble. All guests many questions, confusions, and problems are tirelessly dealt with. They are helped by two delightful local girls who are always smiling. The pet dog Miss Piggy and kitten Kermit play their part too.

The rooms are beatifully decorated and comfortable, and there are lots of places to sit and chill, including the splendid roof terrace, jacuxzzi and hamman. All is spotlessly clean.

Do eat in at least once whilst you are here - the dinners are a treat, as are the breakfasts.

To cap it all the prices are so reasonable for the quality

Keep it up J-M and Frederick!

Loved the Safa

by TripAdvisor Member lisatenacious

Went to Marrekesh by myself, and loved the comfort and kindness of the owners, the beauty and calmness, with the energy outside, and the willing to accomodate all my needs.
I would go back in a minute, and they also referred me to another beautiful place when the ryad was full

Riad Safa Hospitality Plus!!!

by TripAdvisor Member lgroyan

I have just returned to London after a three night stay at Riad Safa. We had a excellent time at the Riad and all of the reviews are true!!

Frederic and Jean Michael have created an excellent escape from the hustle of Marrakesh medina and life in general.

Frederic and Jean Michael went out of their way to organise two excellent excursions for us during our stay.

I would recommend this Riad to all people looking to enjoy Marrakesh medina and wanting a comfortable and relaxing accommodation.

Peace from the clamour

by TripAdvisor Member RetiredofSheffield

Jean-MIchel and Frederick are the perfect hosts to help you get through the clamour and chaos that is the Marrakech medina. The optional evening meals were always excellent. The bedroom was like a jewel. After a long day of sightseeing and shopping when you walk through the door of the Safa you feel a calming sigh relax your body. I highly recommend the Safa.

Amazing!! Beautiful riad and wonderful hosts!

by TripAdvisor Member charlottecirce

This was our favorite place we stayed during our 10 day trip in Morocco. It's a beautiful place and Fred and Jean-Michael are fantastic hosts. One thing we greatly appreciated is that, upon our arrival, Fred sat down with us with a map and explained to us exactly where we were and how to get a taxi and all the major sites. That was extremely helpful and something no other riad owner did. We felt that many riad owners take it for granted that people will know there way around, but the medinas can be very confusing and we loved that they realized people need some help in this area.

The riad is stunning and the rooftop terrace is incredibly well-maintained and a perfect retreat. They really leave no detail overlooked. The two women working there were also very nice and helpful, something we didn't always feel in other riads. Our room was beautiful and in perfect condition. We'd recommend it to anyone and would go back in a heartbeat.
