    Lovely Riad

    by

In marrakech, it is very popular to stay in the so called "Riads"- usually beautifully restored, charming antique buildings. Riad Talaa 12 is a quiet oasis in Marrakech`s medina. It is located right next to the Musée Marrakech- so it isn`t that difficult to find. We asked them to pick us up from the airport- the price is about the same as they ask for the taxi ride and it is more convenient. The area is actually quite nice- which is important in Marrakech- I wouldn`t want to stay in one of the dark, narrow streets. It has just a few, simply but tastefully decorated rooms of a good size. You can take breakfast on their roof terrace or in the small dining room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The offer traditional hammam as well, which was fun and relaxing, as well as massages. For dining, the Foundouk restaurant is just a few minutes away.

"Marrakech Overview"

Marrakech is the land of shopping, culture, architecture, and riads. But it is not known for tranquility, so to juxtapose your bustling day, I would highly recommend making sure you find a relaxing Riad. The Talaa 12 will most definitely do the job.

"Marrakech"

Overview

Marrakech is the land of shopping, culture, architecture, and riads. But it is not known for tranquility, so to juxtapose your bustling day, I would highly recommend making sure you find a relaxing Riad. The Talaa 12 will most definitely do the job.

Transportation There and Away:

In order to avoid the lee driver spoke of his home in the Atlas mountains. We stopped mid-way for some mint tea, and he introduced us to Moroccan Absynthe Tea. He dropped us off at the edge of the medina, a cars are not allowed. Surprisingly, we didn't have a difficult time finding our riad. To leave Marrakech, we boarded the train once again.

Eating:

The food stalls

We had a difficult time finding good food in the Marrakech medina that was not made half-heartedly, knowing that the average tourist would not pay the difference, and still pay twice the price. Every evening, food stalls set up in the Jema El Fna. There are many many food stalls, and choosing one can be overwhelming. Each stall is numbered, with the patrons name on it. We did a lot of research to help you choose the right ones.

Sleeping:

Talaa 12

We thought that the Madada Mogador in Essaouira was going to be the hotel highlight of the trip, and it definitely was one of them. Talaa 12 was completely different from Madada Mogador in the sense that it was a Riad, not a Dar, meaning that it had an open-air garden in the centre. Talaa 12 was very very traditional, without being tacky at all. There was a lot of space, and it was well designed for privacy. Breakfast was served on the rooftop, which provided guests with a very private morning, and an unbelievably good breakfast.
