We were staying in Riad de l'Orientale for 3 days starting July 29th 2007. We were picked up from the airport by driver hired by hotel for about 10 Euro. When we arrived to the Riad we were welcomed by Zacariah that works a night shift and the englishman that is a part owner or a friend of an owner. The Riad was gut renovated some time ago and it is well taken care for. During day it is taken care by Latifa who is very helpful in any way she can.
Our room and bathroom were very comphortable, however there was NO Air Condition!!! Yeah, it hurts when you are in Africa in the middle of the summer without the AC. Riad stuff were very symphatetic to our strugle with the hit and provided plenty of ice-cold water and fresh orange juice. We were also served a delicious breakfast every morning with fresh morroccan pancakes. We also ordered a dinner one night and we were very happy with what we have got.
Unique Quality: The Riad de l’Orientale is a small, family (English)-owned riad, situated in the heart of the Medina in Marrakech. The riad, a two hundred and fifty year old Moroccan courtyard house, has been traditionally restored and has uniquely attractive rooms (no AC), all with en suite facilities.
Just a minute’s stroll from the bustling Jemaa El Fna (really great location!!), L’Orientale is a haven of peace and tranquillity, where we aim to delight all your senses.
We paid about 67 E per night.
Directions: North-east of Jemaa El Fna. A short walk on quiet, narrow, pedestrain (and donkey) street. Really great , quiet area.
