Unique & cosy Riad with pleasant people

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 30, 2009

We stayed 4 nights in this fantastic, quiet riad in the northern medina of Marrakech. It's a bit difficult to find, but it's close tot Bab Tarzout-gate.

The riad itself is outstanding, with very welcoming people. We stayed in rooms 1001 night, Nomade and Oasis (40 and 45 euro per night per room) Because one room was double booked, we got a free upgrade to the 1001-night room, which was fantastic!

The location of this riad is in a very poor part of the medina. You'll have to walk about 30 minutes to Djemnaa el Fnaa square. At first we were a little shocked, about all the beggars you see near Bab Tarzout, but you get used to it after a while.
We had dinner at the riad only once, and compared to the price and quality, it's only average food for a high price, so you better eat somewhere else for dinner.

You should go here for the ambience and affordable rooms, less for the location or for the dinner.
Great hospitality though.....
Very clean rooms and bathrooms!

Unique Quality: Riad with a great hospitality, you feel the warmth as soon as you enter this riad. The management is OK, the breakfast is overwhelming. It's very quiet and relaxed.

You should go here for the ambiance, and the typical, affordable guestrooms.
Live life the moroccan way, it's a unique experience

Directions: Near Bab Tarzout, in the northern medina

Forget about hotels....

Staying in a riad is the best way to enjoy that incredible city. What's better than to stay in the heart of the medina old houses renovated and decorated in this great typical moroccan style of zellige and mosaics ?
Conveniently located near Bab Tarzout in the medina ( you won't get lost in its maze that way), the charming Riad El Filali has only 4 very spacious rooms with en-suite showers, several living rooms and a terrace with a great view on Marrakech.
Local people take care of the place and they help you with everything you need.
Fantastic breakfast is included and you can ask them to cook you lunch or dinner for a small supplement.

Booking are usually required in high season. Rooms can be rented by days or week and you can even rent the entire riad for a great discount.

Double room starts as low as $50

Unique Quality: Hammam
