“A taste of paradise behind an unmarked door”

My husband and I went with good friends to stay at Riyad Al Moussika. I had read reviews and was expecting it to be lovely. However, it exceeded all expectations. The hotel can be found at the end of a small winding but typical Medina alleyway and yet the unmarked door opens onto an oasis of calm and luxury. On arrival we were served mint tea and home-made pastries sitting in the stunning courtyard which is open to the sky. Hassan (the hotel manager) then chatted to us before proudly giving us a detailed tour of the riyad - with its own library, haman, piano room and various terraces . Our cases were already in our rooms by the time we got there. We stayed in the green suite which has its own loggia terrace and a private roof space. Nothing was too much trouble - from drinks being brought up to the roof, bookings of restaurants and taxis and our massages in our rooms - advice on anything and everything. The restaurant within the riyad is wonderful and the food cooked by the owner's son, excellent. Daily breakfast in the courtyard was delicious. We were all made to feel so welcome and at home. The interior of the riyad is so beautiful that we continually took photos of the courtyard with its fountain full of rose petals, the stunning pool surrounded by lanterns and the various loggias and terraces. We will definitely be returning and possibly take more friends with us so that we can have the riyad totally to oursleves.

Bad experience

I booked to stay 3 nights but thankfully only did 2.
The bed sank deeply in the middle and i woke with back ache. Room was not especially clean with barely vaccumed carped and hairs in the bathroom. It was phenomenally noisy from the kids playing outside and from the early morning sellers or buyers.
The staff was good and friendly. The food was normal as we thought that we will have something fancy as we paid too much for that. Anyway, was a great deception as we were expecting to have fun and enjoy our time as I trusted all the reviews about this place.

Unique Quality: the location is great as the inside is well maintained.

Disappointed by all the good reviews

I trusted all the reviews I read about the Riyad al Moussika, from many other Riads in in Marrakech. I chose Riyad Al moussika because of the closeness to the famous Jamaa Lfan square.
Our surprise is when we was I asked to pay cash till we arrived to the Riad the manager was not aware of our long distance trip as well as the stress, the price is high as many Riads in the city are much more low as they are offering the same service.
The boys were available but the service was MEDIOCRE.
We were trapped by trusting the manager to go in trip to the Atlas Mountains with their taxi driver, this latter was stopping at every Bazar, wanted us to buy from them. This is not the problem, we were surprised as The price we paid was three time than booking in any agencies outside Riyad al Moussika.
Normally the riyad was ok, but I want you to be careful and do not trust even the reviews.

Unique Quality: The towels in our bedroom were not changed.
we stayed in the green suite (al akdar) the rice is high but the private balcony was dirthy by the rest of piegeons.....

Marrakesh "The best location, finest foods and all

Riad Al Moussika – Marrakech "The best location, finest foods and all with the highest level of service from a dedicated team"

You can see a short film I posted on you tube which shows the Riad Al Moussika and a look at Marrakech at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N0bK0AkhAE

I read the reviews about the Riyad Al Moussika on internet and agree with many of the reviewers when they say that this is the place to stay whilst in Marrakech. I needed a relaxing break and all the stress of cancelled and delayed flights were soon forgotten. What is even more special is the history and exquisite quality and design of the Riyad together with friendly atmosphere especially for those with families. You really do feel like you are staying at a former Mansion of the Pasha of Marrakech. Upon arriving at the Riyad we were greeted by Hassan the manager and other staff with a splendid array of Moroccan snacks and mint tea. We were made to feel at home right from the very start and my children simple loved every second of their experience at the Riyad. Hassan is an intelligent and lovely gentleman who went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable on our trip including personally accompanying us in showing us the famous Jemâa Al F’na square and Al Badi and El Bahia palace which were ideally located nearby. The stay at Riyad included breakfast and lunch fit for a King or Queen. The quality of the food was simple amazing (Gordon Ramsey & Jamie Oliver eat your heart out) in short and the freshly squeezed orange juice is out of this world. You can still eat evening dinner at the Riyad at an additional cost or they will happily assist in organising a booking elsewhere. We particularly appreciated the tour of the Ourika Valley and other sight seeing tours organised by the Riyad. We had the same driver Khalid for most of our journeys and he really looked after us and I recommend you ask for him to add value to your stay. Simple things like arranging the horse carriage to take us from the Riyad to save us haggling in the square to helping us pack our Tagine to take back gave us the 'home from home' feeling. Overall the Riyad caters flexibly to your needs whilst offering the best experience of Marrakech. For value for money, 100%, you will live and feel like the Pasha.
I have stayed in many places all over the world and some are things are just priceless, the Riyad Al Moussika is one of the. I will definitely return one day and congratulate everyone from the chefs, staff, receptionists and management for making this an experience of a lifetime for guests from around the world.

Nice Riad in the former old Jewish Quarter

Rooftop terrace offering views of the Medina. Excellent homemade Moroccan meals provided.

Unique Quality: Tucked in the former Old Jewish Quarter, this riad is a hidden gem. It feels like home away from home. Management is very friendly and will help you feel at home in such an exotic place.

Luxury behind walls

Riyad Al Moussika is located within the Medina, walking distance of everything. The Riyad has been beautifully restored by it's Italian owner and the service is impeccable. Airport transfers, breakfast, lunch and non-alcholic drinks included. Service is friendly (sometimes over-bearing, don't let yourself be bullied!) with amazing attention to detail. The meals are top-notch and worth the daily trip back for lunch. Daily newspapers provided in either Frence, Arabic or English, tours arranged from hotel, dinner arrangments can be made, turn down service as well as room service.

Unique Quality: Quiet Riyad located in a residential area of the medina. Owner, though not Moroccan is very knowledgable of the country. A great place to rest after hours in the chaotic Medina.

More about Riyad Al Moussika

The paradise is Riad al Moussika.

by TripAdvisor Member val05

I just wanted to tell that my husband David and I had a fantastic stay at Riad Al Moussika in February. Everything was faultless, delicious breakfasts and lunches, great rooms and wonderful staff who could not have done more to ensure that we had a great time. Perfect recommendations of restaurants, but I am sure none of the restaurants matched the fantastic dishes made by Khalid, the Chef of Riyad Al Moussika..
We are recommending a visit to Marrakech but only if you will stay in the paradise that is Riad al Moussika.
We will certainly visit again

Riyad Al Moussika made a much-needed break most enjoyable.

by TripAdvisor Member ANTONYUk

Our sojourn at Riyad Al Moussika was the best of our visit to Marrakech.
It was fantastic to compare the contrast between the frenetic alleyways that are Marrakech and the true oasis of calm and tranquillity waiting for us on the other side of Riyad Al Moussika door's. We found the Riyad to be more than we had hoped for, with its classic stylish interior, its pleasant and helpful staff and the excellent food and drink.

The recommendations for eating out in the evening were exactly what we needed and surpassed our expectations. We also appreciated Giovanni's guidance in suggesting things to do and see, and how best to navigate.

What a fantastic time we had in Marrakech at the Riad Al Moussika

by TripAdvisor Member Jonathan92

What a fantastic time we had in Marrakech at the Riad Al Moussika. Having read all the reviews I am not sure that there is anything left to say! We were made to feel very welcome during our stay and the friendly and attentive staff went out of their way to make sure that we had a great holiday. The riad is absolutely beautiful and the food served at breakfast and lunch was truly delicious.
We never grew tired of returning to the calm and peaceful atmosphere of Al Moussika after the sensory overload of the medina and we certainly hope to visit again in the future.

I have no hesitation in highly recommending a stay at the Riad Al Moussika to anyone planning a visit to Marrakech as it really doesn't get any better than this. In short if you cannot enjoy staying in such luxurious and beautiful surroundings then you probably need professional help!!

Riad Al Moussika perfectly fulfils the most fastidious traveller's dream

by TripAdvisor Member LondonTraveller07

Riad Al Moussika perfectly fulfils the most fastidious traveller's dream of what a private house in Marrakesh might be.

Comfort and cleanliness these days may not be uncommon, but here in addition you get a real sense of style, with every detail in every room carefully designed by the Italian owner, Giovanni.

The food, under the care of Giovanni's son, Khalid, is superb, the staff most attentive, and the library, furnishings, and tiled pools in the courtyards all add to a sense of peace and harmony. We shall be back!
