A cosy ryad in the medina, close to Djemma El Fna.
Unique Quality: Helpful staff, delicious food.
Front desk and service was a bit lacking. The room was clean. It's also next to a busy street right across from the bus garage. It was 50 DHM to the square, but you can walk across the street to the gateway and get to close shops.
For what I paid, I was pretty happy. I felt safe the whole time. By the way, the lights do go off to save power in the hallways. So you'll have to click the lights to turn them on and after 30-45 seconds do it again.
Unique Quality: Pool, breakfast (great jellies and jams), grocery store under the hotel, and bus garage across the street. Great territorial views of the wall.
Ryad Mogador is very easy to find for travellers. It is within a few minutes of Marrakech's main bus station.
It is a large modern 3-star hotel, the same pink colour as the city walls.
The hotel is very comfortable indeed, more than enough for a simple soul like me! The rooms are cool, beds are comfortable, bathroom has all modern amenities. There are TV's in the rooms if you like that sort of thing on holiday.
Each room has a balcony.
Mogador had friendly efficient multilingual staff. There is a pleasant coffee lounge near reception and a large restaurant/breakfast room area on floor 2 (I think).
Nicest of all after a hot day is the small swimming pool terrace in the inner courtyard.
Unique Quality: The rooms at the front overlook the pink city walls and the area in front of the Bab Doukkala main gate.
At the front you will also find the busy main highway from the bus station. For me it was thrillling to watch the mixture of bikes, mopeds, taxis, vans and donkeys negotiate one another!
It is also useful to have a bank, cashpoint machine and a very large supermarket either side of the hotel.

We just recently returned from a tour of Morocco. We had decided to take a side trip to Paris for a day. We arrived at Menara Airport at 11:30am for a 1:30pm flight. The flight kept getting delayed and there were no airline attendants around to get info from. Finally we realized that we had missed our connecting flight in Madrid for Paris. We were sharply told by an Atlas Blue agent that "Atlas Blue doesn't care about our connecting flight." We wanted to just return to our hotel in Marrakech at that point. We asked several people how to exit the airport. We were told we cannot leave. We were forced (not physically of course) to take a flight to Madrid where we had to get a hotel room for the night and return to Marrakech the next day. There were other Americans at the airport in the same situation. Be forwarned: If you fly out of Marrakech and your flight is delayed or cancelled- you CANNOT leave the airport- which by the way, had VERY little air conditioning. The day we were there it was 118 F (48 C). The airport was extremely warm and uncomfortable, and the customs officers, police, airline officials, etc. offer no help to stranded weary travellers.

Me, husband and two small children will arrive at Menara airport (morning) heading towards a hotel in Agadir. How do we get from the airport to Agadir? Are there shuttles that are not SUPER expensive? Do we need to get into Marrakesh to find public buses to Agadir? Thanks for any recommendation! // Lii
