So far so good...booked in for 3 nights and I haven't been here for 24 hours yet!
Paying 440 MAD per night (inc breakfast) which is about €40 - say £35. Well Ibis is Ibis, and (usually) you know what to expect. That's the point of budget chains - sacrifice originality for guaranteed quality...
The room is quiet and comfortable & has a great view out over towards medina. Haven't switched on the TV yet...
Breakfast was pretty basic, but I'll try different stuff tomorrow. At this price I could skip it and go outside.
Location is good - right between the medina and the new town. 5 minutes in a petit taxi from the station. You even have a Pizza Hut and McDoh right next door (perhaps M Moussafi has those franchises too...).
Free wifi in the public areas, but nothing in the room. Oh well, good excuse for beer or coffee.
Had dinner in the resto last (1st) night as I got in late from Marrakesh. Excellent couscous with a half bottle of local red.
Unique Quality: The location and the value for money.
Directions: On the main road between the new town and medina, up behind McDoh.
We were familiar with the Ibis chain so the hotel had little suprises and demonstrated good value. We booked a double room but were given a twin room which was annoying.
Also, the hotel is located next door to Meknes Macdonalds were the new middle class youngsters like to show off car alarm noises, quad bikes and anything else that is annoying late at night. So try and request a pool view double room.
On departure, the gardner tried to extract money from us for being "la guardian" of our car. This was clearly Ibis' private car park with no signs in any language stating that a parking fee was payable so we drove off in a foul mood at yet another Maroccan trying to extract money from tourists through ill conceived means.
If we had a quiet room with a double / queen bed and no dodgy gardner then this would have been a very pleasant stay.
Unique Quality: Decent Pool
Centraly located between old and new towns
Directions: Next door to macdonalds off the crazy big roundabout
