Bazaruto Lodge: Restful haven in Mocambique
With just 40 lodges to accommodate guests and all set amongst palm trees or on the beach front, each with their own piece of the beach, makes this an ideal stop after jaunting around Africa in a car.
There are watersports activities available and for a fisherman, it's a popular spot to say the least.
We felt the food left a little to be desired, although it did not stop us from eating heartily three times a day.
The staff become familiar around the area and so it can feel like home from home if that is what you want.
One thing to note about this lodge is that it is set in a bay and during the day, the tide recedes to some distance away, making it impossible to just go for a dip at any time other than during the early evening at the time we were there.
It is however, possible to walk about 3 miles or so to sit by the sea or take a day trip out.
Unique Quality: Stunningly beautiful, peaceful (unless you are in room 1 and the fisherman and staff decide to party), empty beach and lovely rooms

Gabriels Lodge.: Gabriels Lodge - Don't get ripped off!
We were all going to stay in a dorm room at Gabriels Lodge in the Bazaruto Archipeligo. On arrival to our Island destination we were advised that it was full and we were upgraded to these grass huts. Our stay was excellent and I can not speak negatively about the accommodation.
On our check out the manager of the lodge attempted to rip Anne and I off! Each hut had 2 occupants in it but when he found out that Anne and I were married he tried to sting us for another US$20.00 because we got to share a hut together and that was a benefit we should pay for!! After a few well chosen words we agreed that the additional payment was not required!
Unique Quality: Grass hunts with ensuites and comfortable beds. Mosquito nets are provided and it was nice to hear the ocean at night,

Benguerua only
Benguerua is the only island that has accomodation. Gabrilles is an excellent campsite with wooden huts also. The huts can be single or doubel bed or dorm rooms. I stayed in a dorm room(3 beds) to myself and it cost $20pn, a little overpriced for Mozambique but worth the extra money! They have a restaurant and a bar. There is another more unmarket accomodation further along the beach.
