Cocunuts Disco

Cocunuts Disco was recommended in a website, so I went there one night. It's a well known nightclub between Mira Mar Beach and Costa do Sol beach, 5 kilometer (10 minutes drive) from the city centre.

Entrance cost about 7 USD and include one drink. One beer cost about 4 USD. The place is almost empty before 10 PM. They play rap, beat and Hip-Hop. Some music from mozambique, but mostly from America.

The guests at this place were mainly high class Mocambicanos. A couple of them parked their SUV and Mercedes outside the entrance, and gave the keys to the guard.

Ordinary local people can not afford to party at this place. I think the whole place is puffed up, and this it not the place to go if you like to be with the locals in a natural setting.

Holiday Inn, Maputo Beach Hotel

Holiday Inn, Maputo Beach Hotel is located at avenida da Marginal, right where Mira Mar beach starts. It's one of the finest hotels in Maputo, and the location is great if you like the beach life.

I didn't stay here, but was inside the hall and talked to the reception. And I walked around the hotel. The hotel is very nice, but it looked a bit deserted. It's not much to do in this area at nights except for the Cocunuts Disco.

It's aprox 4-5 kilometers to the city centre, so you need to take a taxi or chapa minibus.
If you really like a long walk, then walk along the waterside on the beautiful road (see photo), and then up the famous Carocol road to Miradouro. And then walk to ave 24 de Julho.

Holiday Inn

I've stayed at this hotel on 3 different occasions, each time I have requested a sea view, each time I have been told I will get a sea view and each time I have checked in I have been given a non sea view room. The non sea view rooms provide a dreary view of houses under semi construction and The Polana Hotel... hmm maybe this is a hint, perhaps I should just give up and go back to the Polana.

Unique Quality: The pool deck overlooking the beach is very beautiful at night under a full moon.

Maputo "Beach" Hotel

I have stayed here already twice and it is magnificently located directly on the beach. All rooms have sea views - and the service is very good!

Unique Quality: The location is great!
