Flamingo Cottages: wow, great architecture, close to the sea

I did not stay there, but when walking by I thought this would be another great place to stay in case that I am able to return there some day and make a tour by car through Namibia.

Flamingo Cottages is like a small village of oldfashioned houses, surrounded by a fence and with a wide parkarea around the houses including a playground for Kids. These cottages looked like newly built and the space between the fence of the Cottages and the sea & beach there is only about 3-4 meters, as you can see in my last Picture.
you will find more Pictures of it in my travelogue !

Kleines Nest: a nice B&B

Kleines Nest is german and it means "small nest" and it is a small Bed & Breakfast close to the Esplanade in Walvisbay.
I did not stay there, but I saw that it is in a quiet area and just about 100 meters from the sea and in case I will ever come to Walvisbay again by car, this might be a place to stay for me for some time.

This place is for tourists who have their own car, otherwise you will be lost !
A quiet neighbourhood, some restaurants and cafes closeby in walking distance and obviously german owners.

Pelican Bay Hotel: Great place to stay

Set on the shores of a proclaimed RAMSAR site this hotel has almost everyhing one can ask for. The food is great, rooms all have spectacular views over the lagoon where thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other wading birds wake you in the morning. This sight must rate as one of the most breathtaking I have seen anywhere.
My only gripe is the rather slack service offered by the housekeeping staff.

The hotel is relatively new, having been opened a few years ago by the then President of Namibia, Sam Nujoma.
As mentioed earlier, it has a prime location on the shores of a proclaimed RAMSAR site

Protea Hotel Walvis Bay: In the heart of town

This hotel has a convenient location right in the heart of Walvis Bay as well as close to the lagoon and a few kilometers away from the Namib Desert.
The hotel has all amenities of a three star hotel and is a popular stop-over point for travellers coming from the Namib Desert heading north towards the Skelleton Coast and other areas of interest.
