Erongo Mountain Hideout

by Acirfa about Erongo Wilderness Lodge

This lodge is great, again clean, luxury tented accommodation, set into the rocky mountains of Erongo. Inside the tent is a bathroom built into the rocks of the mountain, the tent is merely sitting in front of the bathroom. There is a cool box offering a bar to suite all and even tea and coffee. The lodges are connected by wooden walk ways. The restaurant lays on a fantastic breakfast buffet, with fruits, cereal, yoghurts, juices and cooked food too. Dinner is 3 courses and delicious! The early morning brings with it the sound and sights of colourful birds and the opportunity to follow the babboons with a guide on a walk. The location is stunning and the facilities are excellent. Staff are accommodating as throughout Namibia. A pool offer relief from the heat of the day and a 20 minute hike to the top of the kopjie at sunset is rewarded by several chairs to sit on watching the sun put itself to bed.

ATM personal identification numbers in Namibia

by johnzip

Does anyone know the number of digits in one's PIN that Namibian ATM machines require? Thanks in advance,
John

Re: ATM personal identification numbers in Namibia

To answer my own question:

Bank Cards (ATM or 'Automatic Teller Machine' cards)
* make sure that your ATM card is in sync with either PLUS (VISA) or CIRRUS (MasterCard). Ask your bank about this before you leave (and don't forget your PIN number).
* remember your PIN number numerically (with numbers) rather than using letters. Many international ATM machines only have numbers on the key pads. If you only have the letters memorized, use a phone key-pad to convert the letters into the appropriate numbers.
* try to get a PIN number with only 4 digits. Many foreign ATM machines only accept 4-digit numbers, yet many people have up to 8-digit PIN numbers, which won't work.
* always have some cash on you. There may be times when you won't be able to use your ATM card.
* consider taking a second ATM card with you. The magnetic stripes on them are surprisingly fragile.

I have an ATM card with a 5 digit pin and it worked fine in Namibia. It is only numbers no letters.

Architecture

by mvtouring

Windhoek offers quite a variety of architectural styles, but it is mainly colonial so you can see German-style houses and churches, half-timbered houses and Sam's monstrous modern presedential buildings.
