what to wear in upscale hotel/resturants??

by sherese

I am travelling in 5 days to Windhoek and staying at the Windhoek Country club or the hotel safari. I am not sure what to wear?? I have only found websites telling me what to wear on safari. I want to blend in and not over dress or under dress. Can someone help me? I don't know what "elegant casual" is?? Thank you so much Sherese

Windhoek is extremely hot in the somer reaching temp. of 38 degrees celcius easy. A few suggestions would be:
Do not wear beachwear like baggie shorts and t-shirts, rather opt for cotton as it stays cool. Bring along your safari clothes for outrides or game rides. For casual wear any neat 3/4 or short pants would do and wear it with a white or natural light floral top or button shirt with or without sleaves. Remember a hat.
For dining not to casual and not to smart. I suggest simple black pants with a plane coloured top. You can then dress it down or up with some costume jewelry.
Shoes of light leather for the outdoors and leather strap sandles for daytime. A pair of black sandles will do for eveningwear. Enjoy!

It would help if your homepage tells us whether you are male or female. :-)

Rwafish, I would like to caution you about responding to ads by dating agencies...... :-)

Oh, in case you missed it the first time, and now again, the odd characters at the end of my posts are smiles. :-)

Travel Tips for Windhoek

Downtown Windhoek

by SirRichard

Skyline of Independence Avenue, the main avenue in Windhoek, and the place to go if you need to go shopping or a good restaurant.
Here you can find the Post Office, from where you can make phone calls, send/receive faxes and change money.
You can find a good shopping mall and Tourist Info in Post Street, a pedestrian street just in front of the Post Office.

KEEP WINDHOEK CLEAN

by DAO

You will see signs all over Windhoek saying “Keep our city clean”. In many cities of the world you would look around and think ‘too late’. Windhoek is one of the cleanest cities in the world. Please help keep it that way. I never saw any litter or graffiti. It’s a real pleasure to walk around clean streets, sidewalks and parks. Please keep off the grass as well. Windhoek – a very clean city!

THE BEGINING OF THE DESERT

by PEE-WEE

What separates Namibia from everywhere else is the land itself. It literally vibrates with an energy that rises from somewhere deep in the bowls of the earth. Sometimes this energy is so strong that the earth gods spit out glistening treasures - sparkling crystals that can be left lying in the ever present sun or marvelled at by grateful human beans.
While youýre there spend some time getting in contact with this energy. Itýs special.

The backpacking industry is not huge so you'll probably end up camping fairly often. You pay per site and as prices aren't cheap, it makes sense to travel in small groups.

Gibeon Meteorites

by PierreZA

These are to be said the largest known meteorite shower to fall to earth. It covered an area of 360km long and 110km wide.
There is some good info at the site in Windhoek where the meteorites are exhibited.

Our first safari in Okapuka Ranch

by Bigjones

This paradisiac lodge located at about 30km from Windhoek was recommended to us by our friend Heidi. The lodge seems to be the perfect place for a honeymoon (may be one day ;-)) We didn't spend the night there this time but we went on a game drive in the long grass at the foot of the mountains and watch the lion feeding afterwards, it was a great experience.
