In May 1995 was the official opening, when hosted the Miss Universe Pageant. It was the first time that this event was staged on the African Continent. Windhoek Country Club resort and Casino, lies next to an 18-hole golf course, provides tennis courts and a luxurious outdoor pool.
Bizare - Windhoek Country Club
by Skipster about Windhoek Country Club
Some one described it as "Las Vegas style" and they weren't far wrong. Built for a Miss Universe contest it is truly bizare - fibre glass Oryx abound, the walls are clad with a pre-fabricated cave-man finish and adorned with electric torch-like affairs.
It's actually very comfortable but extremley pricey (1000R for a single!) and stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
Also objected to being given a guilt trip everytime I flushed the toilet (water shortages and all) and then seeing it being sprayed around the adjoining Golf Course in vast quantities. Nice pool

After arriving on an overnight flight from the UK with Air Namibia, logic told us to rest up on the first day and not to travel too far. We decided upon the Windhoek Country Club, part of the Legacy Hotel chain.
Situated on the outskirts of Windhoek - albeit only 5 minutes drive away, it gave us a relaxing base for our first day in Namibia - yet still close enough to explore the city.
This was a good hotel, with a lovely pool area bordering a championship golf course - not what I expected to find in Namibia. It gave us a chance to gradually get use to the country and still have the luxury of a top quality hotel with several restaurants to choose from. The lovely breakfast area (with indoor & outdoor seating) had an excellent aspect across the pool area, golf course and surrounding countryside.

When starting out from Windhoek the Windhoek Country Club is my favourite place to stay. don't remember well ca 125 USD It's decadent with an irrigated golf course and a waterguzzling waterfall into rafting river on premises. Rooms furnished to purpose with some african touch, service very attentive. Perfect place to indulge oneself at the start or the end of a long trip while assimilating to the other world to come.
Luscious green luxury in the middle of the desert
by GillianMcLaughlin about Windhoek Country Club Resort
My friend’s cousin who lives in Cape Town works for a small chain of exclusive hotels. She managed to get us a deal on their hotel in Windhoek for our first night at the modest cost of around US$ 30 for the night. We turned up and found ourselves in the lap of luxury, the likes of which I had never experienced in my life.
I couldn't say that this is the hotel I would have sought out for myself, but for the price we paid, even I could put up with a bit of pampering! The Windhoek Country Club is a green oasis that has sprouted in the scrubland on the outskirts of the town. It offers everything for the discerning traveller: very comfortable rooms which open directly onto the Flintstone-like pool area (see photo), an amazing restaurant offering an outstanding hot buffet (including a do-it-yourself stir-fry cooked fresh), extremely polite and welcoming staff, golf course, putting green, bowling green, 2 floodlit tennis courts, swimming pool… there’s even a casino!
The hotel runs a shuttle service into Windhoek

This was our first destination (2 nights) after the 15-hour-stopover-Johannesburg-flight from Frankfurt. We just followed a recommendation by our travel agent who seemingly received some good feebacks from previous customers. We have not been disappointed! A splendid hotel resort, offering everything you can possibly imagine. Check out the pool-side bar and water alleys... it's just like being in a Flintstones-movie!
The resort is an approx. 8 km from Windhoek city (hotel shuttles are provided) and therefore extremely quiet.
We did not check the hotel's casino nor did we play any golf but for those who enjoy any of these two activities, I recommend to book more than 2 nights as you won't find your way out of it very easily! . - Garden pools - Restaurants - Guest rooms - Cleanliness - Staff

If you still need some info re Windhoek, I stayed at the Windhoek Country Club on the outskirts of the city. This has a good swimming pool area, golf course and various restaurants within the hotel.

It is a short drive to the centre and I would stay there again.
My other choice would be Villa Verde - part of the leading lodges:
