Are there a few of you travelling? You need about 4-6 people, but this place is great! Its a short walk to the swimming pool or beach, the houses (or chalets) are well equipped and you have a braai area outside your door (pictured). Heres what you get:
Bathroom plenty of hot water and sink/mirror, separate toilet room
Bedrooms comfortable beds
Closet and loads of cabinets in the kitchen
Kitchen cooker, refrigerator, sink, table, chairs
Outside well maintained and your own braai!
Security 24 hour manned gates, high fences and all windows lock
Laundry, cleaning place to do laundry, dry, mops available
This place is also quiet at night. If you want self catering and a low price per person this is it in Swakopmund. The office staff are helpful with local information, maps and excursions. You are a short walk to everything in Swakopmund including a grocery store to get wood and meat for your braai! And cold beer to go in your fridge!
You can braai everynight and meet your quiet neighbors. Evrything is close by and the price is right! A nice place to stay, with those rather peculiar white and blue cottages, that have a room, WC and kitchen downstairs and a sleeping room (6 beds) upstairs (44US$ per cottage). The security seems to be extreme, but our guide was robbed at night, so be extremely careful and leave valuable things at Safe Deposit. There is a big Laundry Service just by the entrance. The Sea Breeze Guesthouse was a wonderful place to stay for few nights after few days in the desert and before continuing our road trip northeast. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, good breakfast, safe parking for the car and very friendly service. The Swakopmund Hotel provides a good base for exploring the region. The rooms are good 4 star quality, but show their age (10-12 years). Bedding was excellent.
Food in the restaurant was OK without being exceptional. The amount of food put out for the buffets each night was amazing considering the small number of patrons, you would wonder where it all ended up? The A la carte menu was better value. The reception staff were 5 star, we had a tour cancelled due to bad weater and while the tour company could not re-arrange anything the staff at reception overheard and matched us up with some other people on a different tour.
300 meter walk to shops and cafes (Out of Africa Cafe is a must).
The only Hotel in Swakopmund with a decent, but quite cold water pool.
The upstairs balcony rooms offer good space and a large private outdoor balcony overlooking the pool.

This hotel was one of the first hotels in Swakopmund dating back to the year 1905. Today it offers the same German charm as it did in the past and was voted best hotel in Namibia on several occassions. Leave a Comment

This hotel only opened in 1994 and has been built using the old railway station of Swakopmund. Comfortable rooms, a restaurant, a bar, with a large pool area in the centre of the hotel offer all amenities. Leave a Comment

There are a number of campground on the beach. It's safe and you'll end up befriend locals vacationing. It's so soothing listening to waves crashing against rocks and go for an stroll at sunrise on the beach. However, the downside is the salty, humid air will keep your things wet.
