Planet one: Hotel, Lagos

by arneallan

I have stayed at this hotel two times now and if i go back to Lagos i will probably stay here again.

Food and service are great. The prices are quite high, but its worth it.

Rooms are spacious and airconditioned.

The hotel area is protected with guards and high walls.

It's located just outside the city center. They say on their web page that it's onl 5 minutes to the airport, but this is not correct. Maybe if you hire a chopper on the airport. Expect 1 hour, maybe more if the traffic is bad, most of Lagos traffic is jammed from 05:00 to 01:00...

Average in many ways, but it's safe.

Bogobiri House: Artsy Hotel

by lalikes

I found this boutique hotel through Lonely Planet and researched elsewhere to make sure it was the right place for us. I was disappointed in the reviews of this place on Trip Advisor. I felt (and had backup from my boyfriend to make sure I wasn't off my rocker) for $230 a night it was a complete rip off. Now I realize Lagos, NIgeria is expensive but c'mon. This place was "cute" and "quaint" but very ill equipped and not maintained well at all for the price. The rooms were spacious and the artwork was generous. Common area was funky and worth a look with live music on Fridays. I felt that the rooms weren't as clean as I'd like. When you see a can of Raid for your use in the bathroom, there might be an issue. The free breakfast included toast, orange juice and tea/coffee, which I guess is better than nothing. The manager is likeable and worth the visit but I suggest eat/drink in the salon area and not sleep here. Internet WiFi is unpredictable. I can't completely diss this place but again for $230 a night, I expect exceptionally clean, a comfortable bed and fantastic bathroom. The place was lacking. A plus is that it's off the main road in Ikoyi so if you want quiet, you'll get it.

Lots of artwork. Staff was pretty good. I hate to point fingers but Joy was not a joy to deal with. I "got" her straight forward attitude as I have a similar one myself but she was only helpful when you made her be. We felt like we were bothering her. She is fantastic over email when making reservations or asking questions.

Kakanfo Hotel, Ibadan: Ibadan's choice

by dhoyho

Located in a quiet side-street, good security and large spacious rooms. The staff are polite, efficient and helpful. The bar is well-stocked, tiny, but ok. The restaurant is spacious and clean, there is a wide choice of good african & continental food. the room service and laundry is efficient.
The wireless connection for laptops is quick and effective although pricey (200naira per hour).
The business centre (with internet access) is a good option too but also pricey

the downside is the damp smell of the top-of-range rooms (probably lack of use!!), poor choice of tv channels and lack of in-house entertainment (even in the bar).

Overall its good enough to be a three star european hotel

Hilton Abuja: Hilton Abuja

by tashka

Well, Hilton is Hilton... Very good accommodation, the room was large (though the plants in the room were quite dusty), breakfast was good, the area was green.

There is a pool, several cafes and restaurants, including a pool bar.
There is also The Souvenir Village in the hotel territory, where you can buy souvenirs.

Abj Wuse Zone II

by Toyin

This is the hotel I stayed in Abuja in Sept 2004. The same as the one above. For as little as equivalent of $50. You have almost all the confort you find in similar hotel in Paris, where you part with as much as 130Euros.

Hotel Dabras: Wuse Zone two's best hotel

Very satisfying

The hotel is for budget travelers, who, wants value for money.

Nicon Noga: Nicon Abuja

by Toyin

Very pleasant. Aside the Sheraton, this hotel also compete favourably within the FCT. Some people actually prefer NICON to Sheraton. Its a matter of taste and habit.

Service and professionalism.

SHERATON ABUJA: ABUJA'S BEST

by Toyin

Vesy pleasant. This is one of the best hotel to stay when in Abuja. It is centrally located, and convinient for most activities and event within the FCT.

The unique quality of Sheraton is in the service. Also, the friendly environment.

Tip Photo
Sheraton: The Sheraton is your only option in Ikeja

by Catmagic

Having tried a few other hotels in Lagos and found them terrible beyond belief I can only say that the Sheraton is your only safe bet.
Here you have some semblance of personal security, food, and general hygene.
Hookers do hang out in the lobby/bar from time to time but that is no surprise in Africa.
D'ont touch them unless you really want HIV!
