Cassoumay Resort: Kafountines best beach hotel
I have been severel times to this wonderful place. The hotel is right on the beach, 50 meters from the sea! Lazy days in the sun with a good book is relaxing. Food is really good, the staff is pleasent and caring. The rooms are clean with refrigerator, watertoilet and hot shower.
There is a lot to see in the surroundings. To meet the friendly people in the village and visit the local market is a big experience. A boat trip on the big river delta to Pelican Island and fishing for big barracudas is great.

Esperanto Lodge: "A Real Gem" (Lonely Planet Guide, 2006)
Quite the most perfect place to relax into the Kafountine vibe. The food is excellent, the ambience exquisite, the tranquillity profound.
And Lonely Planet keep agreeing: "a wonderful location between the sea and a bird-filled bolong…attractively decorated and very comfortable rooms." (Lonely Planet, 2002) and "This relaxed place on the river is a real gem – you might be tempted not to leave the hotel at all." (Lonely Planet, 2006)
On the Lodge grounds alone, over 140 - a quarter of all the bird species known in Senegal - different bird varieties have been seen.
Trips are easily arranged - especially along the bolongs (rivers) where the birdlife revels in the backwaters as the mangrove forests gently slide by...
Trips from Gambia or Gambian tours are really easily done - cross via the charming river at Kartong in a dugout canoe (Pirogue). It doesn't get much more laid back than that!
