Hide Away guesthouse: A true paradise holiday!!
  • Satisfaction:
  • The stay in the seychelles has been one of the best relaxing holidays specially when we had a very good cheap place to stay. The nature was incredible we had our own beach and everything was walking distance. The blue sea was always the view where ever u turned!
the guesthouse is a selfcatering but meals could always be ordered in advance from the staff. Our guesthouse was right infront of the beach and i know seycehlles is not a crowded place like in some other destinations but we had the whole beach to ourselves!
Everythign was provided for us like clean towels, the whole kitchen was fully equiped with kettle, toaster, fridge, cooking stove and pots, all the kitchen utensils anyone would every need so we had fun preparing our own food at times specially when we wanted to cut down cost on eating out.
There is airconditional and ceiling fans too!! The place was soo good that we could not believe our ears when we heard the price!!
One of the best thing was that the owners were the most friendliest people too!
I have definitely recommended his place to my friends and families already!!

This place was so peaceful and we loved hearing the coconut trees in the breeze and the birds chirping in the mornings, lovely surrounding nature.
We loved the cleanliness and comfort of our place and felt really relaxed there and if we always needed anything the owners would be right next door!
Our place would be right infront of the beach and we never had to go very far to reach shops, buses, taxis or the most beautiful beach in the world- anse Lazio since the place was right before it.
Instead of taxis ( which they had a lot around anse possession) we took buses at times since the bus stop was closeby.
We think this place is excellent for singles, couples or families, as they had 2 huge double beds in our bedroom !!

Plantation Club: Quiet vacation in Mahe
  • Satisfaction:
  • The hotel is situated on the northwest part of Mahe, on the beach baie lazare. The location is great, the beach is beautiful and somewhat secluded, no matter how many people stay in the hotel it seems empty. The staff was helpful, the rooms spacious and clean although they are in need of renovation ( you may spot mould in the bathroom ). There is not a main building for the rooms, instead there are several small complexes of rooms ( ground and first floor). It's best to stay on the 1st floor because you have a better view of the sea and more privacy when you use the balcony, however one has to take into account the stairs. Definitely avoid the rooms near the small pond ( lots of mosquitoes and not enough view and noise from the bar).
I was disappointed by the pool, it smelled of chlorine and there were loose or missing tiles.
As far as breakfast is concerned there was quantity but lack of quality. In general terms the entire hotel needs renovation however this fact does not cause serious problems to your stay it is mostly a matter of aesthetics.

Be careful of swimming during the afternoon hours, the tide is rising and the drafts are intense.
This location is one of the most beautiful and characteristic of the island. Great bakery just outside the hotel. Car rental agency opposite the hotel ( don't be shy to bargain the price ).

    Praslin: Iles de Palmes
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We enjoyed our stay here, very peaceful!Very authentic and secluded! There's no aircon, that's the major problem. But we are told that they will build this year including telephone in each chalet, a restaurant and a pool. You might be very far from the shops, but hire a car, even just for a day and get all the things you need.Or walk to the nearest village, Cote d' Or,takes about 20-30 minutes walk to get there and you'll find plenty shops. The resort also provides barbeque grill but I just wish it's complimentary, but no,we had to pay 10 Euro for the rent.So if you don't have much luggage, maybe you can bring your own portable grill;).

    Mahé: Chalet d'Anse Forbans
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Another good choice we made! This resort is located 30mins from the airport,at the south east coast of Mahé,a very picturesque place. The chalets are simple yet very clean. And they have aircons. The beach is just few steps away,in the evening you'll find sea turtles nestling by the shore and the resort's garden. The resort provides 1 bottle of water,juice,1L milk, toastbread, butter and eggs as complimentary on your arrival.Shops are quite far,so you need to hire a car or get the bus to the nearest village or direct to Victoria. The barbeque grill is complimentary but you need to pay for the charcoal which is only 15 SCR.

Le Petit Village: Terrace on the beach
  • Satisfaction:
  • Le Petit Village is a complex of wooden flats built in Bel Ombre, just a few minutes drive west of Beau Vallon, in the north side of Mahé. The capital Victoria is around 20 minutes away by bus or car. Bus services are frequent until 8 pm.

Right from the moment we were welcomed by the delightful Ann, we felt at home in Le Petit Village. The staff is polite, helpful and completely unintrusive. As a plus, management did not charge us any penalty when we were forced to a last-minute rebooking due to our airline messing up our booking.

The price was in line with the Seychelles offering. We made use of the special offer (7 nights for the price of 6), which almost made the whole thing a deal.

The location is absolutely excellent, overlooking one of the least crowded and best kept beaches in the whole island, and not far from a number of good restaurants. Hiking possibilities are good, with the Bel Air beach a two-hour tredge away.

The flats and the beach-side garden are well kept, and the kitchen equipment is plentiful for a holiday home. The beach is good for snorkelling (and interestingly full of crabs!), with the coral reef just a few strokes away. The view of the island of Silhouette at the horizon is particularly charming at sunset.

Villa de Roses: Guesthouse in Mahé
  • Satisfaction:
  • Family run Guesthouse with friendly talkative owner.

Placed in a nice garden not far from some Restaurants and stores.

On some days of the weeks some kind of a foodmarket is beeing held in the evenings on the mainroad in front of the Guesthouse going down to the beach. Locals cook food mainly barbecued seafood or sausages, sell their fruits and desserts, and make music.

The most lively experience we had on the Seychelles!

My husband and I stayed two short nights at the Northolme in February 2007. Our experience was absolutely amazing. We thought the staff was fantastic and the rooms were incredibly roomy, with large decks overlooking Silhouette Island. The beach at the hotel is fairly small and rocky but the views more than make up for the lack of beach.

There is a small shop within walking distance (turn left out of the hotel drive) and the Boat House and Baobob Pizza are also a nice walk from the hotel.

This hotel has fabulous and large, private rooms in a villa setting. Some villas are single-level with one room per villa while others are two-story with a villa on each story. Both are very private and quiet with some of the largest hotel rooms I have seen, including suites at some of the chain hotels.

My husband and I stayed at the Fisherman's Cove Hotel in February 2007 and had a fantastic time. The staff is wonderful at all levels -- many remembered our names even though we only stayed 3 nights. We really felt like everyone went out of their way to accommodate us. The front desk staff and the pool/recreation staff are especially helpful and friendly.

The beach was not in the best condition during our stay. Staff told us that during the summer time (including February), the sea is a little rougher on the west side of the island. We were told that in April and May, the beach is beautiful. It wasn't a big concern for us -- we simply walked 100 yards down the beach to swim where it was less rocky.

If you stay at the hotel on a Wednesday (in the afternoon) or the last Saturday of the month (starting at 6 PM), you can easily walk down Beau Vallon beach to the craft and food market set up just off the beach. Local food and crafts, t-shirts, etc. are sold at a reasonable price and it's great people watching. Bring some cold beer with you and walk around listening to the music and get to know the locals!

Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

Close proximity to local market and restaurants
