Patatran + beach from the sea by Saagar At the La Passe jetty as you arrive, there are ox carts ready to take you to Patatran. Or taxi. With small children and lots of luggage it's too long to walk. The cart can't go all the way, due to the road (can't turn) so you have to take your luggage yourself the last hundred meters . Patatran itself isn't that much of a place for children, because the beach here is not sheltered by a reef, and there are limited play areas nearby. Staying unsupervised/alone on the beach here is not an option. But there are beaches nearby (walking distance) back toward La Passe and further past Patatran where the water is sheltered and shallow. Very nice, in fact. To get to the other beaches you will need to taxi, ox-cart your way or bike. Patatran is worth less than what you pay for (in international comparison), but among the options here, this is what you get. Friendly service, very relaxed, too. I was happy about it, let me hasten to add. The rooms were well cared for and the bathroom fine. A valuables storage in the reception safe, good, as the rooms aren't too secure. Romantic beds... Bike rental adjacent to the reception area. Many services offered via the reception and general tourist office in La Passe. Cheaper to organise the things yourself, but definitely more cumbersome. BB option here is all right, you may not wish to be stuck here for lunch and dinners, too. The food gets a bit too generic. But they do ok for other meals than breakfasts also, some goodies on their a la carte and once a week island foods buffet. They can make you a picnic basket. I opted for the supermarket a little past the "centre" of La Passe. Juices, water, bisuits, fruits for the beach and evenings. We went as far as purchasing a hot water cooker for our own teas and coffees as Patatran's kitchen/bar didn't keep open very long, and it was very enjoyable sitting up late playing cards on the little bungalow verandah and letting the day come to an end. We gave this boiler to Patatran for other guests' perusal when we left. Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: La Digue, just past the northern point.

by Phil&Rosie This is a reasonably piced (for Seychelles!) hotel, next to the gorgeous Beau Vallon beach. We stayed in a Superior room, which had both bath and shower, twin basins, a very comfortable bed and satellite TV. A daily $2 tip for the maid provided us with fresh flowers and fruit! The pool is reasonable, with a nearby bar - be prepared to wait for service, as the Seychellois are particularly relaxed about speed of service! The beach has a wide range of sports facilities and is perfect for swimming (although note that this is forbidden after dark).
What we found really good was the wide variety of restaurants - there's quite a few in the hotel, providing Creole buffets, Chinese, Italian and Japanese menus. The Teppanyaki counter was really good value, with the likeable chef producing some great meals. Breakfast is buffet-style, with sausages, bacon, eggs and omelettes cooked to order; a range of continental cereals, yoghurts and breads are available too. Make sure you try the starfruit jam!

by marcic A very quiet hotel run by locals. Minutes away from Anse Source d'Argent. The Island is soo small that it's actually close to every place.
We stayed in this place twice (in 2004 and 2005). Last time we visited La Digue I asked Jennita (a receptionist) if it is possible to get some papayas to bring home and she said - she'll ask gardener to get some for us. Imagine how surprised we were on returning home from another day trip around La Digue instead of couple papayas to see a large box of them at home. :) Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: La DiguePhone: (248) 23-44-23Directions: Say hello to Jennita from Marcis adn Sigita.Other Contact: mcdurup@seychelles.net

by iwys The grounds of the Plantation Club are very attractive. The beach is at the rear, there is an escarpment, with lush tropical vegetation, at the front and a lagoon along one side.
Beautiful setting. Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than average

Pool, sunbeds and the sea by grets Beuatifully situated on Beau Vallon Bay, this medium class hotel is very nice indeed. Everything you could wish for is available here, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the beach is on your doorstop, the bust stops right outside the gates and the staff are very friendly. Lots of activities laid on should yu wish, or you can just laze around the pool or beach each day.
There is a small raft anchored a little way off shore which you can swim to if you want some excercise. Lovely beach with direct access from the hotel. The only thing we found against the hotel was the café was full of drunk Russian soldiers at night!

by marcic Run by a very warm and welcoming family who left South Africa due to security reasons a decade ago. A self catering place but a restaurant for the lazy/tired people within a walking distance. A nice garden, right off the beach and three giant turtles kids were amazed of. Since it's rather remote renting a car would be a great advantage but nevertheless we managed without one.
The most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen.

Plantation Club by iwys The Plantation Club is possibly the top resort hotel in Mahe. The rooms are split-level with high celings and balconies with a beach view. They all have satellite TV. Facilities include a nice swimming pool, tennis courts, free water sports and a casino. It was built on what used to be a 180-acre coconut plantation and is in a fairly isolated location in the south-west of the island.
The Miss World contest was held here. Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: The Plantation Club, Baie Lazare, PO Box 437, Victoria, MahePhone: 386 868Directions: At Baie Lazare , on the south-west coast of Mahe.
