Ilse Des Palmes: Self Catering Cabins on Anse Takamaka

by roxane&jose

Ilse Des Palmes "Pirates Cove" chalets are great for honeymooners because of the seclusion. The staff are very friendly & helpful, but the chalets are situated a bit too far from the shops to be the best venue for a self catering holiday.

The staff clean your room and wash the dishes everyday, as well as supply fresh towels & toilet rolls. The area has an abundance of beautiful sea life and some very attractive beaches that you can only get to via kayaks which you can hire from Ilse Des Palmes.

AcaJou Hotel, Praslin: 5 star Bargain on Praslin

by dickiebird

I chose AcaJou because it was listed as the most reasonably priced in my travel book, I had no expectation - all I wanted was a nice beach, a clean bed and maybe a pool. What I got at $200 was the best service, beautiful accommodation, beach that is from the Corona ad, comfiest pool loungers as well as dinner and breakfast, served by such great staff and cooked by talented chef. I am inspired to recommend this hotel to anyone who thinks they cannot afford a hotel on this Island. When I did a google search for a hotel, I received so many that were $1000 plus - I really didn't think it was a possibility, now I know. It is on Cote D'or beach, and has a beach bar.

Firstly, when we arrived at 9am, we were greeted and introduced to the resident manager, complimentary cocktails were served (together with fruit and umbrella), while we were enjoying our cocktails, they were getting our room ready, and by 9:15 we were shown our room. Most hotels would not accommodate in this way. As we were inspecting the hotel grounds (beautiful), we were met by the different staff members who were all so proud of their hotel, the pool / beach manager introduced himself, our hands and offered us tips on sunscreen and sandflies.

4 course set dinner was served by attentive staff, it was truly the best experience I have had at a restuarant or hotel.

Domaine De L'Orangerie: La Digue - a bit of luxury

by neilvt

Booked this over the internet based on a few picture and their description. I booked self-catering to keep the price down and that worked out at 141 euro/?100 a night - high end of my scale but what the hell!
walk left from the jetty - 150 m to the place so avoid the rip-off ox carts.
Great welcome, as soon as you get to reception, ice cold face towel and green coconut with a straw are waiting - just what we needed. Taken to semi-detached villa - villa has bedroom/bath upstairs and open kitchen/living room down stairs. Decor was great (very Zen), but I wouldn't want to have kids with me, too much to break.
They do bike hire (6.5 euros a day)., laundry (1 euro an item) and they have a mini-bar (expensive).
Kitchen was adequate (but no frying pan or ironing board).

Recommended for a bit of romance and relaxation without feeling that you were being bled for every euro

First impressions are important - this place got it right.
The grounds and gardens are fantastic and the staff are friendly and relaxed.

La Passe GH: Guesthouse on La Digue

by Hanomax

No mass tourism, but genuine hospitality is practized here. The guesthouse is situated near the little harbour (about 1 1/2 mins. by bike) and set back from the sea, nestled amongst the gardens of La Passe. At this idyllic place you are never far from the quiet bustle of the village, while it's a relaxing place to have a beer in the garden or on the terrace. By bike, the whole island is within easy reach from here.

The 4 double rooms have been recently renovated, each with their own bathroom and simple, but clean, spacious and cosy. There is no air conditioning, but there are fans in every room.

In the common kitchen there are cooking facilities available as well as a fridge.

What makes the stay so special, however, is Marie-Anne: she is a markedly friendly, hospitable and happy person. Her smiles are contagious and the food she's serving every evening has her guests raving for a long time after. Yummy! Bring a good appetite for fish, like everywhere on the Seychelles. ;-)

Mary-Anne speaks good English, French, Creol and a little German.

Ile des Palmes: Very clean, comfortable and affordable Bungalows

by Tim1971

If you're looking for a "one stop shop" type accommodation then "Ile des Palmes Bungalows" (selfcatering at the moment) are not for you.

However, if you are on a budget and looking to stay on 'Praslin' in a modern, clean, comfortable and safe environment as a base for you and your family (or couples), then this should definitely be on your list.

You are greeted by 'Danby' (the owner and site manager) and her staff - all are very friendly and helpful (as are all the people we met in the Seychelles).

The Bungalows themselves have all the modern facilities one would expect and to our suprise they also include a washing machine for all those sandy towels and clothes.

The maids that come each day to clean make an excellent job of it leaving fresh flowers on the made up beds and even do the washing up too!

The one drawback to the site is that even though the bungalows are on the beach, the beach is part of Baie St Anne natural harbour that you wouldn't call a typical Seychelles beach. However, it's great for spotting stingrays and baby sharks and crabs!

The Plantation Resort: Expensive Resort!!

by labaronesa

I got this resort because it was a tour package I got with Emirates including air fare, hotel, transfers and breakfast. For the money I paid I was not very impressed by this resort. The rooms were nice but the mold smell was really umpleasant. In addition to this I got a ground floor room and you can hear the steps above your room. The lady kept on walking with sandals hitting the floor really hard. Practically, we went to sleep when the people above me went to bed. We went to Seychelles for a few days so no time to change rooms. We were busy everyday. Far away from Victoria 45 mins distance. The bus stop was right outside the resort.

All the facilities were nice. Restaurants, pool and the private beach.

Le Duc de Praslin: Praslin Accommodation

by mandy66

This small hotel was wonderful ! the people who owned the hotel were so lovely and could not be more helpful and attentive (they were also animal lovers which helped !) the gardens were beautiful and there was even a small swimming pool. The food was excellent and served buffet style in the evenings and the beach a very short stroll away.

Anse Soleil Beachcomber Mahe: Mahe Accommodation

by mandy66

We stayed at the Anse Soleil Beachcomber for the first week of our trip - the road down to the hotel is very bad but don't worry the hotel itself has the most wonderful location on a really beautiful beach (Anse Soleil) which is quiet and has some wonderful snorkelling around the rocks. The woman who runs the hotel is very nice and helpful as were the hotel staff. Our room was basic but comfortable with a fridge and air con but had a lovely verandah area which was almost on the beach.
