A bird fishing in the fish-hall
by globetrott
It was a lot of fun to watch this bird "fishing" directely in the fish-hall of the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Markethall. This bird really felt at home between all of the many merchants who did regard him obviously as a part of the fishmarket. You might see these birds in the fishhall in many pics, also of other VT-members, so it really seems to be a quite common "local customs"
giant turtles
by globetrott
The giant turtles are one of the symbols for the Seychelles and many of these giant animals are 90 years old or even more. I took my photos in Jardin du Roi, where we could see a total of 8 such giant turtles and we could feed them with leaves of the bushes closeby, that was a lot of fun. They almost dont make any sound, except a bit when they are chewing.
Go snorkelling !
by Muya
Many spots are great to snorkel on Mah?. Fish ground is very rich ! We have been snorkeling in Anse Major, Anse Soleil, around Moyenne Island in the Sainte Anne Marine park. I'm not really confident underwater, so I didn't dare to venture too far away but there's a lot of things to see even next to the beach... Beautiful little fish everywhere, so colorful !!
A great place to go scuba diving too ! (Of course coral is in bad shape, but slightly recovering. And it must be so great to swim with turtles, to see a ray evolving next to you or catch a glimpse of whales ! Yes, you sometimes come across big fish, as you can see on the picture :-) Bring your own snorkel gear (snorkel, fins and mask). I
f you want to go scuba diving, equipment can be borrowed at diving centers. There are some of them on Mahé, usually in hotels (3 in Beau Vallon).
Little waterfall
by kyoub
Down the road from Port Glaud , behind the church, down the path, you will see a small sign for the waterfall.
It i s small waterfall but pretty surroundings and it is cool and peaceful there. Take a dip in the cold water, if you dare.
Cascade - south-east of Victoria
by globetrott
Cascade is a village next to the airport and they also have quite an impressive christian church that I could see from the distance, when passing by in the tourbus to Jardin du Roi.
Once that you have left the busy town of Victoria, there are wide streets with almost no trafic for easy driving.
