Forest Cabins at Addo park: Forest Cabins

We opted to stay in the forest cabins. There is 4 beds, a breakfast nook and a cupboard with all the cutlery and crockery. You have your shower and toilet, but the kitchen is a communal kitchen that you have to use, but you have your own fridge at your cabin. You have your own braai at your cabin.

Affordable and extremely clean. The price we paid was R420 for the cabin

Variety to choose from

Different options are available at the Park. I previously stayed in a chalet, which was very more than adequate.

For the different options visit:

Reservations should be made vis the Central Sanparks office (website above)

Addo Elephant cottages: under the thatch under the stars!

We stayed in a thatch-roofed Dutch-colonial styled bungalow, were the last in a row, so we had extra privacy, which was wonderful. We were so close to the animals (fenced off).

It sleeps four, so with just the two of us, it was so spacious! It has a bathroom (where I made my husband a lovely petal bath), and an open plan living are and kitchen, which led onto the veranda.

Everything was very comfortable, clean and inviting. It was serviced daily with fresh bedding and towels.

They do have a campground area where you can stay too, as well as rondavels which cater for different amounts of people..

Campground: Green tents

Fun to say in a tent, but still have a bed and other pieces of furniture that you would find in a hotel room. Those tents even have a fridge and a lovely balcony.

Happy Lands B&B: A Warm Welcome and Good Food

Mike and Nita are perfect hosts and they've created a wonderful and comfortable B&B on their working citrus farm. They are happy to fill you in on local restaurants nearby or Nita, who is a great cook, will make dinner on request for a very modest extra charge. Breakfasts include homemade orange blossom honey and jams. All of this is extremely reasonably priced but they don't take plastic so come prepared

The rooms are very well appointed -- we stayed in Cara-Cara, a large cottage with a fantastic double shower. The furniture is traditional Cape country and Nita has added some great touches like family portraits and lavender sachets! There is a pool, lovely garden, and lawn with a fountain. Mike is happy to give you a tour of the farm while you are there and will help set you up on game drives at some of the local private reserves if you want to see something other than elephants.
