La Fontaine B&B in Franschhoek, South Africa

Having stayed at many B&Bs around the world, this is one of the better. The breakfast was absolutely superb. We ate outside in a flowering courtyard with a view of the surrounding mountains. The food included tea, fresh juice, fresh exotic fruits, salmon, roast beef, etc. served on real china.

The room we stayed in ran around $120 and was very spacious. It not only included the obvious bedroom and bathroom, but a large dressing room as well. The bathroom has a a separate shower and clawfoot bathtub and two sinks. I was impressed with how clean the B&B was.

There is a general sitting area that includes a balcony overlooking the town. The keep complimentary port wine in the room for the guests to enjoy while reading and relaxing. The owners were particularly friendly (which I can't always say at many B&Bs.)

It is only a two block walk to the main street in town with all the cafes and shops. So once you park your car you are good to stroll around (unless you want to drive to the wineries).

This is a terrific place to stay if you are going to spend a day or two wine tasting in Franschhoek.

Unique Quality: large rooms, extremely clean, and a fantastic breakfast
