Clarens Inn & Backpackers: Clarens Inn & Backpackers

I would imagine this place is awesome when busy in summer
i went in winter and hardly anyone there
it has dorms, private rooms and camping
dorms are 100rand a night in a large 16 bed room
All room open to a square courtyard which has a huge bbq and plenty of places to chill out
theres also a great looking bar
also a kitchen to cook own food
all just a ten minute walk from town

Mt Rouge Guest House: Guesthouse/B&B/Selfcatering

We only stayed here for one night, but I will easily stay there for a week. We stayed in the selfcatering part, called the Attic. Bathroom - seperate toilet and shower. Open plan sleeping and lounge area. Sleep up to 4 people. Kitchenette. This is a nice, clean and safe option and very affordable.

The view from the balcony is fantastic. Beautiful garden

Lake Clarens Guest House: A room with a view

Beautiful view. Very popular.

Each room has TV, bar fridge, tea tray, bathroom heaters, underfloor heating. Breakfasts are prepared by your hosts and served in the private dinning room or on the verandah.

Great view

Rebellie Game Farm: High up in the mountains

A luxury lodge high up in the mountains. You are completely isolated. You see nobody else but the people you are with.

I would reccomend a 4x4 for the trip to Rebellie. The 7 km from the main road to the lodge is full of holes and not for driving with an ordinary sedan. I mentioned it to the owners that they should advertise it like this.
You can always take a helicopter. There is a helipad next to the lodge.

The lodge is the ultimate luxury. A jacuzzi, fire place , lots of space outside, walking trails etc.

Jaccuzi, fire place (it gets cold high up in the mountain), massive rooms, deck, dishwasher etc. Far away from everybody.

Beautiful scenery.

akzente

Akzente is self catering or can include breakfast. It is in the beautiful town of Clarens in the Free State. It must have the best view in town. It consists of a a big lounge/kitchen area, two rooms and bathroom. It is clean and modern. The price it very reasonable. 2003 it was R85 per adult and 40 per child. Most probably went up a bit. For 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids) it worked out to R250 per night about 25 pounds (not even) or 35 dollars. It is right in town you can walk where ever you want to go to.
I will never stay anywhere else in the area.

The view is great. It is quiet and close to everything.
