The staff are very courteous and friendly and the courtesy bar between 5 to 7 pm serves free bar drinks to residents and their guests. At all other times it's an "honours bar" you write in the book what you took from the bar fridge in the wonderful lounge area.
You can choose to have breakfats at the hotel, or you can cross the road into the shopping district of Rosebank where there's plenty of 1'st world shopping and dining.
You can also order dinner to be delivered to your room from many of the restaurants in the area through the "Mr Delivery" restaurant service. There's a Mr. Delivery book in your room with a list of at least 15 restauarants and their menus, from KFC to Japanese Sushi, steakhouse grills and seafood to Italian, Chinese and Indian food. Just choose the food you want dial the number listed at the front of the book and your restaurant meal will be delivered about 40 minutes later. Mr Delivery serves Joburg households across the country and it's really nice of Courtyard Rosebank to include themselves as a delivery option. I'm sure most hotel groups would not be happy to have food delivered to their rooms.
There's a also a Woolworths shopping list you can fill in on arrival and the goods will be delivered to your room. Woolworths is basically an SA version of UK's Marks and Spencers or USA's Target
Best to book online to get the best rates, they also run some sort of loyalty points system that leads to free nights for returning guests.
Free drinks from 5 to 7pm
Glorious pool
Value for Money (I'm choosing less expensive than average because the price you'd pay at a 5 star hotel is a lot more, and here you get more than a 5 star hotel room box, you get a 5 star suite)
Roadworks, near the hotel, are underway for the Gautrain rail construction (to be completed in 2010 for the FIFA world cup) but so far it is not affecting their operations.
