i will be traveling with the Shosholoza and require affordable safe parking for 1 week close to the johannesburg station. Can you recommend any. thank You

Although it is not very close - it might be a good idea to park at the Johannesburg Airport.
It will certainly be a safer option. Long term parking is available.
There is a shuttle bus from airport to city centre,

Where are you from? Sounds like you're from SA and will be parking your own car. Compare the costs of leaving it at home and getting a transfer (usually expensive) to / from JHB or rent a car between the 2 locations. (Getting a friend to drop you off will be cheapest!)
If it is a rental - return the car and ask them to collect you when you return!

The johannesburg park station has its own parking areas. whether its safe to leave your car for a week, am not sure. But the upper parking area with the entrance on Rissik street seem safe to me. all of the rental cars are parked there. Its well lighted during the day and and nightime also. The pay park booth is always manned and i think its a 24 hr operations.

I have been using that parking area for short time parking only and i like it better than its ground area parking below which i did use before I discovered the upper level parking.
