Sandton Sun & Towers must rate as one of the best hotels to stay in when visiting Johannesburg. It is situated in the Sandton CBD which is the NEW Central business district, after Johannesburg CITY became a little too dangerous. The Sandton sun links up with the Towers Hotel and has a drect link into the Sandton City Shopping Mall as well as Nelson Mandela square. These are upmarket shopping centres, with cinemas and all the well known brands of clothing including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hugo Boss and our own names too (South African) The more common chain stores like Woolworths and Stuttafords are also in this mall.
Plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you would like to have traditional African food, you can go to "Laghotla" on Nelson Mandela Square, or for fish, to the "Cape Town Fishmarket" in the Sandton City Mall.
The Sandton Sun is a 5 star hotel, and their service is very good.
Unique Quality: The "Spa"is a great treat. Glass Floors, with blue under-floor lighting. You feel relaxed before you even start your treatment.

Very good location for visiting the Johannesburg area in South Africa. Business or leisure the Intercontinetal has all the facilities you would expect, being connected to the shopping mall is also a big plus. Many people choose to stay at hotels in this area. This is a good hotel if you are on business as they also have an excellent business center.
Unique Quality: The Johannesburg InterContinental Sandton has direct access to the excellent shopping at Sandton City, it's about 25 miles from Johannesburg International Airport. Very good facilities and comfortable rooms.

The Airport Sun Intercontinental hotel at Johannesburg Airport South Africa is very close to the airport terminals at Johannesburg International Airport. Ideal hotel at Johannesburg Airport for an overnight stay. Good value for money with good facilities, the Airport Sun is a good choice for a Johannesburg Airport hotel not just for convenience but also fo comfort. This is a 4 star hotel at Johannesburg Airport. Therre are now motre Johannesburg Airport hotels so the choice is better.
Unique Quality: Very close to the terminals at Johannesburg Airport. One of the best Johannesburg Airport hotels.

Well once again this Hotel is situated in Walking distance from the MichelAngelo and the Holiday Inn Garden Court. Its very central and situated next to Sandton City.
Unique Quality: The nice thing about the Sandton Sun is that just like the MichelAngelo you have access to Sandton City from the Hotel. Well The Santon Towers and Inter-Continental is linked to the Sandton Sun by a skywalk and you you have access to the Sandton Convention Centre from the Hotel.
It also has a swimming pool and a Health Club.

Sandton Sun Intercontinental - I spent my wedding night there. It is quite pricey, but the rooms, service and proximity to excellent restaurants makes it worht it.

Cheap lodging: Formula One, City or town Lodges. Bed and Breakfasts are found all over. Expensive lodging: The Mount Nelson, Hilton Hotel in Durban and JHB, The Royal Hotel, DBN, The Table Bay, The Sandton Sun, The Carlton
The resorts of Sun City and Lost city are one and the same, and are about a two hour drive out of Johannesburg.
There are shuttle buses that go to and fro Sun City and Johannesburg (these usually pick you up at central hotels in Johannesburg, for example the Sandton Sun Intercontinental Hotel.
There are four hotels in the resort you can stay in, The Cabanas, The Cascades, Sun City Hotel and Lost City Palace. The least expensive is The Cabanas, the most expensive, by far, is the Palace.
Included in your hotel cost is a very generous buffet breakfast, with the highest quality fruit laid on. One thing that South Africa has plenty supply of is excellent quality, succulent fruit :)
Each hotel is fully equipped with all types of facilities. The Cabanas is the least expensive and the one that my brother and his wife's family stay in most often. They go annually.
Of the 3 hotels in Sun City, this is the least formal, and the most relaxed. They have all the facilities you would expect a hotel of this standard to have: Digital TV, television in the rooms, air conditioning (VERY important for this part of the world! The bushveld in South Africa is hot and dry)
It has 380 rooms and leads down to Waterworld.
The Lost City Palace is far more luxurious and has everything you could possibly need at hand for your pleasure.

I'm going to be staying that the IC Sandton sun, i've been reading a lot of comments about how bad the area is. Is it safe? or should change my reservations?

Sandton is most certainly not a bad area! It's one of the fancier suburbs north of Jo'burg. You do not have to worry about staying there.
That must be one of the "safest" options!
I work a block away from that hotel , I would say its a good choice and great location.
