ATM - minibank

The ATM service in South-Africa is very good. The terminals are located outside the banks, bus stations, airports, etc. I had no problem using a credit card in Johannesburg, and recommend using it because I got a better rate than changing USD into Rand.
Compliment the locals on their trees
by Moirads
The early pioneers who settled on the almost treeless (a few thornbushes notwithstanding) gold bearing reef in the Highveld in 1886 experienced a fuel and timber shortage which compelled them to start planting trees, initially fast growing exotic ones, but later indigenous ones. Johannesburg had its first Arbor Day on 1 February 1890, a day which is now celebrated on 1 September each year. By June 1893 it was estimated that some 25 to 30 million trees had been planted.Soon the bleak, inhospitible veld became a planted forest and is now possibly the largest planted forest in the world, together with the abundant birdlife of any other forest.
The biggest afforestation scheme was that of Herman Eckstein & Co, who bought the farm Braamfontein, imported a German forester, Genth, and planted 300 ha of pine and eucalyptus trees in an area named Sachsenwald (today's Saxonwold). Part of this area, the Zoo Lake and the Zoo were officially established as a park in 1904, and handed over as the Herman Eckstein Park, to be used as a 'park for all people, for all time'.
The summer vista over almost any part of Johannesburg shows the abundance of trees, and in late spring, early summer the beautiful Jacarandas give Pretoria, the Jacaranda City, a good run for its money. Jacaranda trees are exotic and people are discouraged from planting them now.
See Pilanesberg Park - only 2 hours away!
by jumpingnorman
Pilanesberg Park is only two hours from Johannesburg, and I had my guide drive me around the huge reserve for about fours hours (starting at noontime). But all I saw were deers, birds and a few wild pigs...I guess the big animals were still asleep...
However, despite my experience, the Pilanesberg Game Reserve is considered one of the most ambitious programmes of its kind to be undertaken anywhere in the world with over 10,000 animals. The Operation Genesis, which involved the game-fencing of the reserve and reintroduction of long-vanished species, began during the late 1970s and is still the largest game translocation undertaken in the world. But the animals were hiding from me that day! But other VTers have great pictures of the wildlife...

Well what can I say about this club. Its quiet large with 3 dance floors with there own seperate Dj`s, not all dance floors are open "depends on which day you go there.
The music varies , depending on which dance floor you choose. There is House , RnB , Hip Hop , Techno , Rave and Rock Music.
They have various functions during the week like , Shower Hour , Stag Nite and so forth. There foam parties is quiet cool. Anyway for a list of functions check out the website provided. Well They not that strict with their dress code but once again no track pants and try to wear casual shoes to be on the safe side.

by dejavu2gb about Smith & Wollensky
When you walk into Smith & Wollensky and you're greeted by a friendly face and seated by the very nicely decorated tables, and it gives you that, I cannot afford this place feeling. But when you see the menu, the prices are very good, and the food is superb. I have been many times and can not fault the service. As their speciality is steak, I would recommend that, its very very tasty and good value for Money.
