Stu,
You ask a very specific question, but I have no idea to give you a specific answer. For one I have no idea what you want to spend your money on, are you into buying diamonds perhaps?

After WorldCup2010 prices may be very different than they are now, but maybe this will give you an idea. At todays date, in my neighbourhood, you can buy
A 6-pack of beer @ ZAR33.00 = GBP2.60 (liquor store)
A single beer in a bar ZAR15.00 = GBP1.20
McDonalds BigMac burger @ ZAR 26.00 = GBP2.00
Meal in a restaurant about ZAR100 = GBP8.00

Hope this help.

Faurec is correct. Its difficult to answer the question, because your spending money depends upon what you want to buy!
Cigarettes and alchohol are cheaper in SA than in other places.
The exchange rate for SA is good.

Well, when i go home for a holiday, i also get free accommodation (with my folks), but i do tend to go crazy with the activities - golf, nights out, trips to the coast, etc. I usually find that about 600 - 700 quid gets me by quite easily (for about 3 weeks)...

You will need R100 per day for lunch at fast food places, the odd colddrink etc. This is assuming you have breakfast and your evening meal with your girlfriend's family. Movies are R45 and a decent meal out for a family of six will set you back about R1500 to R2000 (I assume that is how you will thank your hosts, but you might have something else in mind).

Basically you will need another R200 per day for tourist activities if you have your own transport. Some things will work out a little cheaper and others a little more expensive.

Enjoy!

40km North of Pretoria is a meteorite crater similar in size to the well known Barringer crater in Arizona. The crater is a kilometer in diameter with walls 100m high and was formed some 200 000 years ago when an asteroid hit the earth.

Modern Restaurant with Classic atmosphere

by PierreZA about Smoke Cafe & Grill Lounge

Smoke has been a favourite restaurant of mine for quite a long while. The very interesting menu starts with the desserts!
The food is usually outstanding. More recent, I thought that service were not what it use to be - which is very unfortunate. Hopefully that has improved. Springbok Carpaccio
Deep-Fried Ice Cream
Sicilian Lamb Shank

Hatfield Market

open every Sunday, from early until pretty late, with a wide variety of goods to buy. Everything from henna tattoo's, to bonsai trees, paintings, cellphone accessories, souvenirs... You get my meaning?
