Great Hotel

I stayed here for 3 nights ( August 2005)while visiting my daughter at Rhodes University,.(the university is just up the street about 1 block) The staff at the hotel was very friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy. A king bed and private bath, tv air conditioning and heat. The room keys were the old fashion sketeton key which was unique to see. For us the location was great being so close to her unviversity as well as centrally located to walk to resturants, post office, food store, the movies and other shops. You can also walk from the hotel to Settlers Monument. The hotel has a resturant. I only ate breakfast there and it was fine. They made eggs to order and had a buffet of cereals, fruits, cheese and crackers and other foods which seem to be common at most South African breakfasts. I would definitely stay here again. I felt completely safe here staying alone. The other hotels in the area were too far from the university and not safe to walk to at night. This hotel is part of the Protea Hotel chain which are well know in South Africa. Another Protea Hotel was across the street which I was told is a good place to stay.

Unique Quality: It's located right in the center of the High Street making it easy to walk to everything.

I have no idea of price as this was part of a package.
