Kruger National Park
"The First Days"
It was the first day of our holiday and we were keen to get into Kruger Park. We stayed just outside the Park and were up early to try and see as many animal as possible.
No sooner had we driven through the gates when we noticed this heard of elephants right by the roadside.
We spent 4 days in and around Kruger National Park and it was early starts everyday.
We booked a place to stay just outside Kruger National Park in a lovely little self-catering villa, which had two double bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and then a large living room with kitchen, bar-be-que etc etc..
We tended to go out for the evenings trying some of the local restaurants, one place near us was the Hippor Hollow which had excellent food and everyone including the bar man were so friendly.
Hippo Hollow is an upper class resort where you can stay and they have hippos that come down to their lake, at certain times of the year. Looked really good but too expensive for us. The food was cheap though.
Kruger National Park is a fantastic place, but as the animals are free and you are in their environment you need to be careful and observe the speed limits in the area. And it could be pot luck if you actually see anything.
I do recommend that you take one of the Night Drives with a park ranger as some of the areas that you see are usually off-limits during the day, and also the animals come alive at night as it is cooler.
Take loads of film (or high memory) as you'll find you'll be taking pictures of apsolutly everything as we don't have this kind of stuff in England!
