Island Vibe Backpackers: Island Vibe 2 Thumbs Up
We stayed four nights. We had a nice double room with shower and a balcony that overlooks the water. The beach in front of the hostel is superb - it has nice sand, dunes, and although hard to see we say a pod of grey whales way out at sea who breached every once and a while.
The bar is quite nice and the food is great. Surfboards are rentable and the staff is fairly helpful. The place is built onto a hillside and there are two different levels. We stayed on the bottom level. The stairs that connect the two are a little sketchy but not terrible.
There is also a communal kitchen in both complexes.
They will also pick you up from the gas station where the bus drops off.

Cristal Cove: Like our own apartment
This place is a budget accommodation, it attracts a lot of backpackers but also families too.
We stayed in a double room which happened to be in an apartment, where there were 2 double rooms in total.
So, there was us, and then there was a couple in the other bedroom - we shared one bathroom and one kitchen between 4 of us, and we had a table and chairs, sofa and TV!
This was like heaven - we really did feel like it was our own little home!
Cristal Cove is owned and run by a lady called Cristal, her husband and her son. Together they create a friendly, fun, welcoming atmosphere. I loved staying here, the rooms are modern and spotlessly clean, internet is available, as well as parking.
It is a short walk to a shopping centre, just across the boardwalk from the beach and only a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive into the town centre.

Jeffreys Bay Backpackers: A home more then a backpackers
This hostel is HI affiliated. There are dorms, doubles, singles, and small private cottaes available. There are often deals where every third night is free during the winter (Feb-Nov) There is a big comfy common room where you meet the others in the hostel. The staff is incredibly friendly and go out of your way to make your time in Jay Bay as good as possible. Flags are hung outside the hostel to represent the countries visitors come from. There are two large bathrooms, and a pool in the back yard. Bikes, bodyboards, and surfboards are available for rent
The hostel is not off the beacch, though it is not a long walk from the beach. There is plenty of food around, including an excelt steak house.
