Keep your valuables locked away
Overall, our stay at Lion Sands was amazing... the game viewing, the accommodations were all fantastic. However, I am now left with a sour taste in my mouth as my cell phone was stolen while at Lion Sands by one of the employees (I was at the resort with a private group from the US and all of the phone calls made were within South Africa - strange for an American to have made all of those calls. I have deduced the only other people that could have come in contact with the phone were employees) and they were able to rack up nearly a $500USD cell phone bill before I was able to report it stolen. Unfortunately, Lion Sands Lodge has only agreed to pay $100 of that bill as they feel it is not their responsibility. So be sure to lock up all valuables when visiting as sticky fingers are about!!!

Kings Camp V Lion Sands
Hi,
We are planning to spend 3 nights in a Kruger Game Reserve as part of our honeymoon in early September.
The options given to us by our travel agent are Lion Sands (River Lodge) in Sabi Sands and Kings Camp in Timbavati.
I wonder could anyone offer an opinion as to which would be the better choice in terms of:
- wildlife viewing oppurtunities
- general safari experience
- dining experience
- general accommodation standard
Or are there other camps of a similar price which might be better?
Lion Sands in more expensive but looks that bit better to me on the website, but looks can be deceiving.

Lion Sands is 1.5 hours drive from KMIA airport, Kings Camp 1 hour.

Keith is correct tshukudulodge is good and its only 20min from eastgate airport.
Kings Camp is 1 hour from eastgate airport not KMIA that will be 2-3 hours drive.
