Travel Tips for Plettenberg Bay

Beach Life

by littlebush

Plett is a great place to laze about and not do much. The beach is fantastic to relax on. Its a typical holiday town. The town has a fair few shops so when youre bored of the beach, shopping is an option (around 140rand for a billabong t-shirt). There are also plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve

by glennkasner

"What a surprise"

Being a wildlife lover we often pop in at reserves closer to home usually to be disappointed by the fact that many of these so called Nature Reserves offer no more than a few specimen that are obviously fed on a daily basis and do not rely on their own natural instinct to find food for themselves. In some instances they come running to the game drive vehicles expecting to be fed. To be honest, this is what I was expecting when Maritha said she has booked us in at a reserve called "Plettenberg Bay Nature Reserve" What kind of name is that for a Nature Reserve? Plettenberg Bay is one of the most popular Yuppie hang outs in the country after all!

"Arrival"

Arriving at our departure point for the game drive we were confronted by a herd of rhino - huge beasts grazing away on the grassland. The reserve had for years been used for farming and as result, has large tracts of grass that make game spotting a pleasure.

"Good variety"

The reserve has a good variety of animals and the nice thing is that one often sees a variety of animals grazing together as one would see in the Serengeti but on a much smaller scale
