Looking for My Life's Mission

by JanusInNeed

I am a patient, loving person who's going on 50 years old. I have no more ties to my hometown and not as interested in travel anymore as I am to finding a new home. I am looking for contentment, fulfillment and maybe the meaning of life. I believe this can be found in helping the animals and children of Africa. Absolute happiness - for me - is only in places where I am needed (AIDS children, preferably). Can anybody point me the way. I don't have much money (only enough to get there), but I don't ask for any luxury when I get there - just a sleeping bag and a directory of what plants would be safe to eat. Most WebSites I've come to are only looking for term (2-3 month) volunteers who pay their own way. I want to commit for years.

I would know the answer to your question if you were Dutch but this is the general way I would like to point out to you:

There will undoubtedly be organisations in Toronto that send out volunteers for such projects.
Maybe via non-governmental organisations (NGO) that do development projects in Africa.
Have you contacted any?

I know of a few specific projects in Zambia but I think it's best if you go via an organisation in your country.

Volunteering does not exclude being a professional, in the sense that you know what you are doing and how to help and what you need to know to help.
You will need funds and probably also recommendations.

You could go to the Red Cross for a start, or an Aids organisation or any other (check if it is bonafide) and ask for advice.
You could also visit embassies of the countries you consider going to and ask if they can point you into a direction.

It would help if you made a resume and try to find something you did (either in your professional or free time) that could be useful for such work.

In short, unless you want to go at great risk, both personal and towards the people you want to help, I think you should get in touch with organisations that can help you plan this.
You'll need to be practical and organised to fulfill your dream. Good luck!

You know, there are plenty people in Toronto who could use your help,...and you would'nt have to move. Might be a place to start?

Good luck in your search though,...I hope you find "it"; wherever it may be. Godspeed.

:o)

Why not work in Canada for such an organization. Earn money and then donate whatever amount you wish to a needy organization overseas such as you have suggested. This way you will have achieved a twofold task. The money you provide will purchase much needed medicines and enable professionals to provide their services .Also research requires funding.- Best of luck Robertvp

Travel Tips for Amanzimtoti

AMANZIMTOTI

by PEE-WEE

Amanzimtoti forms part of the eThekwini Municipality, ( www.durban.gov.za ) lying 30 km south of Durban on the warm Indian Ocean . The sub-tropical climate ensures year round bathing on sandy beaches served by lifeguards and protected by shark nets.

We also have swimming pools and a water-slide as well as plenty of free and some controlled parking

Ample holiday accommodation in some top class guest-houses, bed and breakfast and self-catering establishments as well as hotels are available.

Dining out is to pick and choose from many popular pubs, taverns, restaurants, take-aways, live music and dance clubs. Sports facilities are in abundance. Day tours and safaris can be arranged for local or regional visits.

Amanzimtoti is the terminus of the greatest shoal on earth when the annual sardine run from the south sometimes beach and then disappear from the scene.

Beach area of Amanzimtoti is worth visiting

by Waalewiener

Amanzimtoti which is a Zulu name given by Shaka,it means Place of Sweet Water it has 7 km of beachfront with two well monitored swimming areas. There are
Inyomi Rocks and a Pipeline Beach.
There is lots of parking and the beaches are safe , and protected from Sharks.
There are lots of restaurants ,there is a small Waterworld and a Salt Water Pool. There is Scuba Diving and Horseback Riding. The beautty of the Indian Ocean, the georgeous Sunsets great Sea-food ,are what I miss the most.

If you like to catch fish go fishing off the Rocks

by Waalewiener

Watching the Fishermen fishing of the Rocks on the Beach of Amanzimtoti is a real treat especially if you see them catch some , and they were catching fish .
You can see were they kept the Fish in the next tip. Just a great place to be and the Sun and the waves , Fishing of the Rocks. It is really a fantastic area .

Natural holding areas were catch is kept.

by Waalewiener

Standing on those Inyomi Rocks and looking at the Indian Ocean , than looking to the left seeing the beach with families enjoying themselves, watching the enormous waves roll in , that's what I would like everybody to see. All memories of Amanzimtoti are fun memories. But to see the way the fishermen
kept there catch in the crebiceses of the Rocks was a great thing to see.The fish had no way out of there. In my next and last tip I will show how the water came inside these
Rocks.

This picture will show you how the water rushed in

by Waalewiener

Watching everything that went on on and near the Beach ,watching children building sand castles ,watching a dog digging out a stick that his owner hid underneath the sand . All those are the memories that are coming back to me to be honest my videos of course help me remember a lot of those memories.
On this picture you will see the strong waves
pounding the Rocks , and the the water rushes in and fill in the crebises in the Rocks and then create a natural fish holding
space.
