Small Hotel in the centre of town

I have stayed here several times. The hotel is pretty old and has been revamped several times. It is on the corner of Albany Grove and Smith street opposite City Hall and adjacent to The Playhouse. The rooms are all quite diffrent. The large, airy and bright ones overlook Smith Street and are generally quite decent. However you could land up in quite a pokey dark room (on the Albany Lane side). It goes as a 3* but has the amenities of a 2* hotel.

Unique Quality: The only reason to stay at the Albany are either budget or becuase you're working in the city area for a while since it is very central. A short walk down towards the Esplanade will land you at the multicultural arts space - The Bat Centre that always has some unique fine arts exhibitions. Next door is The Playhouse Company that has 3 or 4 professional stages where an arrary of South African plays, dance and music can be watched.
