Ethiopian?

by Osmun79

So.. It's probably a lost cause but I have never been able to find an Ethiopian restaurant in Durban. I CRAVE Ethiopian food.

Does such a thing exist in Durbz?

Re: Ethiopian?

Sorry, can't help out in Durbs, but if you ever come through Johannesburg, then I can happily recommend the Abyssinia, which is ergonomically located for 'out-of-towners' in Kensington, one of the eastern suburbs ;). Follow this link for more information:
http://www.eatout.co.za/restaurants/6207/search/johannesburg/abyssinia-restaurant . I am no great expert, but we've always really enjoyed the experience.
There is also Addis in Cape Town (use the same website for more details), but as I haven't eaten there, I can't comment - it does seem to get good reviews though.
Apologies that there doesn't appear to be anything in your neck of the woods, but I guess that the 'acid test' of a craving is how far you're willing to go to indulge it???

Cathy

Travel Tips for Durban

Leave those woolies!

Within the shopping centresof Durban, you will find plenty of opportunity to purchase more bags, suitcases and backpacks should your purchases leave you wanting more room. Prices are very reasonable and good quality items are readily available. Travellers and tourists from Europe should find that even in winter, it is rare to need jumpers. A simple cardigan or jacket for cooler evenings should be all that is required.

My father lives just outside Durban and for only a few days a year will he put on a cardi - and he's a local (well, lived there for over twenty years). Most things readily available. Personal medication needs should be sourced in your own country and proof of prescription/requirement taken with you to avoid delays at customs. APS film can sometimes be difficult to obtain. Other photography supplies should be found quite readily. Whilst not readily found, specialist camping and outdoor stores will stock your needs. You will find plenty of opportunity to purchase souvenirs. Purchase away from large shopping centres where souvenir shops are over priced. Many roadside stalls can be found near large tourist areas and these are often good places to source bargains.

Great Seafood , Great Setting!!

by GerryFM about The Famous Fish Company

This superbly appointed seafood restaurant can be found at the newly developed Point Waterfront. Situated at the Harbour Mouth with wonderful views of passing ships at close quarters it must be one of the best positions in the world!! This restaurant serves the most superb seafood cuisine in the country. In addition they offer an extensive and comprehensive menu which includes their famous fish platter, and they are equally famous for their pastas, Portuguese chicken, grilled rump fillet steaks, crab curry and not so hungry lite meals

Tala Game Farm

by Lelya

An excellent place for a short trip, this reserve has a fantastic restaurant and accomodation as well!

They only have one of the 'Big Five' (Rhino) but lots of other animals - if you like bird watching you will have a real treat.
