DURBAN'S BEST VALUE FOR MONEY

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 25, 2008

I HAVE STAYED HERE BEFORE AND HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED MYSELF. THIS IS AN OLD WORLD HOTEL BUILT IN 1921 BUT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AND UPGRADED. THE BALUSTRADES ARE THE ORIGINL MAHOGONEY PROBABLY IMPORTED FROM BRITIAN VIA THE COLONIES.

THE DINING ROOM IS VERY GRAND WHEN ONE CONSIDERS THE ERA FROM WHICH IT ORIGINATES! THE BREAKFASTS ARE VERY ELEGANT WITH A NICE CHOICE OF FOODS.

THE STAFF HERE ARE REALLY FRIENDLY AND NATURAL.

MY ROOM HAD SEA VIEWS AND A BALCONY.

Unique Quality: SEAVIEWS
FRIENDLY STAFF
ELEGANT DINING ROOM
MAHOGONEY WOOD FINISHES

Directions: BEACHFRONT OPPOSITE THE NORTH BEACH
NEXT TO THE AMUSEMENT GROUND AND JOE KOOLS RESTAURANT

DURBAN BEACHFRONT HOTEL BEST VALUE

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 26, 2007

I STAYED HERE BECAUSE THE PRICE OF THE ACCOMMODATION WAS OFFERING EXCELLENT VALUE RELATIVE TO ITS NEIGHBOURS. I CAN SAY I WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. THE HOTEL IS LOCATED RIGHT OPPOSITE NORTH BEACH AND OPPOSITE THE FUN FAIR. IT HAS PLENTLY OF NICE RESTAURANTS WITHIN EASY WALKING DISTANCE.

THE HOTEL HAS AN OLD WORLD FEEL ABOUT IT. IT WAS BUILT IN THE 1920'S. IT HAS A MAHOGONNY STAIR CASE AND LIFT. THE DINNING ROOM HAS HIGH CEILINGS . THE HOTEL HAS BEEN TASTEFULLY RESTORED KEEPING IN MIND THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF THE HOTEL.

THE HOTEL HAS A 3 STAR STANDARD , IN MY OPINION, BUT CHARGES TWO OR ONE STAR PRICES. THIS PACE OFFERS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY.

THE RECEPTION STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP WITH ANYTHING.

Unique Quality: GREAT VIEWS
EXCELLENT LOCATION
OLDE WORLD CHARM TASTEFULLY RESTORED
GRACIOUS DINING ROOM WITH AN ELEGANT BREAKFAST INCLUDING WAFFLES EVERY MORNING!
ALL THE NEIGHBOURING HOTEL COST MORE THAN 3 TIMES THE PRICE AND ARE NOT MUCH BETTER.

Directions: ON THE BACHFRONT OPPOSITE NORTH BEACH AND THE AMUSEMENT GROUNDS.
OCEAN ACTION CENTRE IS RIGHT IN FRONT
