Travel Tips for Durban

Herbalist

by MikeAtSea

The Zulu herbalist, medicine man or iSangoma play a very important role in the day to day life of urban inhabitants in Durban. Yet it is not surprising that one would find a Zulu pharmacy with many of the local herbs, roots or other items that are used in African medication.
This shop can be seen in Fishmarket Street close to the Victoria Street Market.

Wild Coast Sun

by dejavu2gb

If you fancy a change of scenery, or just want to test your luck and see how much you can win, the Wild Coast Sun might be just the thing for you.
Its a Casino Complex about 2 hours drive South of Durban.

Set on one of the most unspoilt beaches in the country, located withing a large area of natural bush, overlooking the Indian Ocean.
With lots and lots of things to do, you will always be occupied.

Take a stroll on the beach, or lie next to the pool in the hot african sun, or you can be indoors trying your luck at winning some big money.
There is also a lovely golf course, where the SA Masters are held. Being one of the most beautiful in the country, and also one of the tougest!

Coffee

by cleocat about Wimpy

I have never been a great fan of Wimpy. I suppose there is something wrong with me because it always very popular. The two mornings we were at Ushaka Marine world, the Wimpy was crowded and the other restaurant's relatively quiet.

The breakfast's are Ok but I have had better. Very boring, the bacon and egg thing. Coffee. Ever since I can remember Wimpy had great coffee. No special blends or anything just normal coffee. The newest on the menu is the Mega coffee. Still tatse the same but in an enormous cup. A normal cup is about R7 and the Mega R10 and three times the size.

See the dolphin show.

by cleocat

I know there is always a big debate on the subject of animals in captvity.
I haven't really weighed up all the pro's and cons for myself.
Nevertheless the dolphins are amazing and the show is well constructed.

There are a few during the day and very popular. Make sure you are there well before it starts to get a good seat.

The price is included in the entry price to the aquarium.

The Playhouse

by MikeAtSea

The main theatre for the KwaZulu Natal province that offers a number of concerts, theatre and musical acts and also has a busy coffee house in its foyer that is frequented by a lot of locals during the day time.
