Friendly Family Home in Durban
We came for three days and were still there after seven!
It's a nice place, we loved Durban and we got on incredibly well with Pat and Keith the owners of this hostel.
It is hard to write about this place as I have other hostels, I think that is because we were made so very welcome and it felt more like our home than a hostel!
We were there for New Year 2005/06, and as it was very heavily booked and busy, Keith offered us the caravan! Great, it was clean and comfortable, private and right by the pool in the garden.
Bathrooms and communal areas were always clean and tidy, as was the outdoor seating areas and the swimming pool - which is a godsend in that humidity let me tell you!
Unique Quality:
It is a home away from home.
I remember arriving just after dark had fallen, we were let through the secure gates and parked our car up. Instead of the usual signing in, paying and getting our bags from the car, Pat and Keith whizzed us through to the garden, where we sat down and enjoyed a beer or three and a superb braai, which would become a regular occurence over the next week!
Pat is so very informative and can advise you of all of the best places in Durban to visit, and all of the places to avoid! Keith knows his diving and can give you a wealth of information on dive sites in Durban and up the Kwa Zulu Natal coast.
