My fiance and I are thinking of getting married in a private game reserve in Kruger and am wondering if anyone has any opinions on the wildlife viewing available in KwaZulu-Natal. We are heading over there at the start of January. I know this is not the greatest time to go, but we don't have a lot of option.
Remember that Kruger is a bit removed from Kwazulu Natal. Have look at the National Parks web site, it might help.http://www.sanparks.org/parks/
January will be very hot al along the east coast area and Kruger as well so keep that in mind. Northern Natal has several private game parks and the whole Hluluwe and St Lucia areas are prime game viewing areaqs but not sure about the logistics to actually have a wedding there, hopefully someone else can help with some suggestions
We were in the KwaZulu-Natal area in March 2004.
We stayed at the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge and ventured out from there, visiting St. Lucia, Cape Vidal, & Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. The Game Lodge was excellent and was situated in a private reserve, so we did some of our game drives right there.
Among other things, we saw Nyala, Warthogs, Zebra, Elephants, Fish Eagle, Hippos, Cape Buffalo, & Rhino.
Part of "I Dreamed of Africa" was filmed at Zulu Nyala and you can still visit the set. Overall, it was a good trip!
Hope this helps!
