BONAMANZI GAME PARK: TREE HOUSES

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday --September 27, 28 & 29, 1994
Hans, his brother Wim and I stayed at the BONAMANZI GAME PARK in a Tree House for three nights. It was our "Home" while we visited three game reserves located in the area -- Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve -- Mfabeni/Cape Vidal -- Mkuzi Game Reserve and the St. Lucia Estuary.
Update: April 12, 2007
As requested I searched for todays prices for the 2 bed Treehouse. It is now 310 Rand per person sharing.

As Bonamanzi is itself a game reserve, there were an abundance of animal life there, including impala, kudu and monkeys and plentiful number of birds also. In the evening you could hear the monkeys on top of the roof of our tree house.

Emshopi Camp Ground: One Campground in Mkhuze

There is only one campground in Mkhuze. It has all the expected facilities. There are showers and bathtubs and good bathrooms. Hotwater available. Braiis are provided at each site but there is very little in the way of grass. The campground is fenced in from the animals.

The location is near the Emshopi Entrance Gate. You have to go to the main restcamp at Mantuma to take care of your accomodation. We found out that camping was apart of the entrance fee, so it worked out to be a very cheap experience.

Mantuma Camp.: Mantuma one of the best camps around.

The Mantuma Camp units are built on decks
for great viewing ,and the units are nicely furnished and have Kitchen and Bathroom facilities. The Camp offers guided walking tours and a night driving tour in a safari jeep.
There is also a self catering tented safari camp it has 6 two bed , and 2 four bed tented units with open kitchens.

There is a swimming pool and a Curio shop and basic food is availible, but it is better to buy your main food supply in Mkuze.
