We stayed at the Sani Lodge for just one night.
The Sani Lodge is located at the base of the Sani Pass so you can access this place in a normal car, there is car parking and a variety of accommodation on offer.
We stayed in a thatched round hut for the night. As this is in the Drakensberg mountains when the sun had gone down it was freezing. There was an oil heater in our room which helped take the chill off.
The huts are very secluded and it feels as though you are sleeping in the forest. We had our own ensuite bathroom and use of the communal kitchen.
As far as kitchens go, this one I am afraid stands out as one of the worst! It was dirty and small, people were pushing around each other. There were hardly any utensils in the kitchen or anything to cook with - as this is a place very popular with backpackers I was very suprised to find this.
The hostel though was safe and secure, very friendly with a nice common area and great grounds.
Comfortable. Not the nicest place. Good meals prepared by staff and very cheap.
Lots of organised trips to Sani's Pass with guides. Somewhat aggressive staff will try to get you to sign-up for anything. A good option if you do not have your own 4X4, expensive but well worth it.
