Republic of Hout Bay
by camilo74
The story says a guy faked his passport and travelled around the world with his Republic of Hout Bay Passaport, I don't know if it's true, but if you come here you can buy your own passaport, i didn't do it, just stopped here to see the seals in my route to Cape Point
Observatory
by maria_te
If you fancy a bit different a place to see in Cape Town, Observatory definitely is different from rest of Cape Town! It used to be a suburb where the hippies, artists and musicians had their homes and even during apartheid people of all colours still lived together. The narrow streets and Victorian-style houses give Obs its atmosphere. However, Observatory has now turned to be a bit of a trendy place to live in. It is a popular place for a night out and there are restaurants and bars for every taste to choose from on Lower Main Road!
You can get to Obs by train (it's on the Fish Hoek/Simon's Town line) or minibus taxi from the city centre. The trip takes about 10-15 minutes.
All in one place
by Gard about Victoria & Alfred waterfront
The waterfront area is nice. It is a nice mixture between shopping malls, restaurants, bars and a working dock. This is where you will find Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe and the Two Ocean aquarium. The Cantina Tequila can prove to be quite a hot spot on Friday and Saturday evenings. I'm not sure that you will be able to buy much there that you can't find at home. But for me (being from Norway where most things are expensive) it was easy to find pretty good bargains here.
NATIONWIDE AIRLINES
by BerniShand
I had never heard of Nationwide before researching our trip, but I read good reviews about it and was amazed by the great prices to travel business class from Gatwick
the plane was rather dated, but was very comfortable, the food was the best I have ever eaten on a plane, the service excellent and the timing of our 10 1/2 hour flight meant that we could sleep all night and arrive at Johannasberg Airport refreshed where we transferred to a local flight to Cape Town
our return journey was just as good, this was the best flight we have ever had
Nationwide flies from Gatwick North Terminal in the UK, and operates domestic and international flights in Africa, I can definately recommend Nationwide if flying to South Africa
An African Feast
by phred1910 about The Africa Cafe
From the traditional handwashing to the foods from all over Africa served with accurate explanations to the tribal songs, this is a must do if you are in town. They were all good. You are served appetizer sized portions of about 12 different meals, and then you can ask for more of your favorites.
