Wants to meet, arriving November

by chloegovan

Hi, I'm a female visiting Cape Town this November. I'll be in the area for a month on an internship and am looking for fun people to show me round. Preferably female.. and either locals or people who are new to the region like myself and would like to explore together :D
If that's you please send me a PM and I will give you my email address.
Looking forward to visiting!

Travel Tips for Cape Town

Friendly people and sightseeing

by annieruel

I suggest to climb Table Mountain, Lion's Head, Devil's Peak and...relax on the beaches.
Je suggère de grimper Table Mountain, Lion's Head, Devil's peak et... relaxer sur les plages. For me, I miss my friends that i had.
And eventualy, the ocean, landscape and the beautiful little penguins.
Personnellement, je m'ennuie de mes amis que j'avais là-bas, des paysages et des petits pingouins.

Volunteer

by nichole_521

I spent three months in Cape Town and during my stay I volunteered at a school and in the townships. I did not go through a volunteer agency which would have made me pay big money. Instead I opened a phone book once arriving and called schools, non profits and other social agencies. This website is also very helpful:

A wide selection of Wine

by phred1910 about Vaughan Johnson's Wine Shop

Has a really great selection of African wines and liquors. The sales staff is quite knowledgeable. And the fact that Mr. Johnson went to jail more than once to be allowed to open on Sunday, makes it the place to buy wine in Cape Town on Sunday. Wine, Liquor 5-50 Euro/Bottle

Airport lounges

by mvtouring

Something I was not aware of untill recently - if you are a Dinerscard holder, you can use the airport lounge whilst waiting for your flight to depart at no cost to yourself. Make use of it, it is absolutely worth it if you have quite some time to spend at the airport.

Mexican - Pancho's

by jo104 about Panchos

Fancy eating good mexican food in a vibey restaurant for a reasonable price then look no further. Pancho's is in the heart of Observatory, a fairly arty suburb where musicians showcase their talent. Margaritas are served in large jugs & are seriously good.

Do bear in mind this restaurant is always busy & if you don't book then you will have to wait sometime for a table. There is a smoking area as well as an upstairs - plenty of atmosphere & tequila to go around. I believe you can order takeaways & also doggy bag your leftovers as the portions are fairly large.

Sadly on my last visit we were not able to get a table so therefore the lack of picture. They open evenings from 5.30 to late. Typical mexican
