More about Atlanticview Capetown Boutique Hotel
Calm, Peace Tranquility, Loved it!
We arrived at Atlantic view after a very long journey, 12 hour flight and transfer. The Atlantic View team greated us with a lovely cool drink (passion fruit juice was delicious!) it was so peaceful quiet and tranquil, just what you need after a long haul flight.
we sat for a bit and talked to the staff then we had a show around, we were very imprseed with the property, it was really modern, minimalist clean & very tastefully decorated and also very comfortable and homely. By the time we returned to reception our room was ready.
We were led across the wooden walkway to our suite, it was fantastic, the doors opened straight onto the infinity pool, we had a lounge (the aircon was already on, which you need in Jan in Capetown as it was a very very hot day!) in the bedroom (egyptian cotton sheets!) lovely comfy bed with fantastic views over Camps Bay. There were tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar, the bathroom was really spacious and fantastically decorated with great products!
It was so nice to stay somewhere which was not touristy, or overcrouded it had a nice home from home feeling with a comfortable air about it!
we managed to get a few hours sleep it was so quiet, and we were not disturbed which was perfect!
The daytime the other guests were out so we had the pool to ourselves!!
In the evening they had fantastic sundwoner drinks where you can watch the sunset and meet the other guests, with canapes which was a nice touch too.
If you have a car its literally a 5 mins drive into Camps Bay if not then the hotel will take you very cheaply (and safely)
I would definately recommend this place as a starting point in South Africa, we will return!!!
Walks the Talk
You read a lot about this Property on Trip Advisor and other articles and the pictures are fantastic but we are so used to great PR and marketing tools these days that so often you arrive at a property and are dissapointed. WELL NOT HERE! Greg and Rainer have created a wonderful guesthouse cross luxury hotel.
They are not responsible for the amazing views or scenery , that is down to millions of years of nature but they had the eye to purchase and create this guesthuose and make it as beautiful as the Twelve Apostles its stands beneath. ( well almost!)
The Staff are freindly and helpful and the fabulous nightly complimentary sundowners are a terrific way to see the sun go down on the beautiful Western Cape. Breakfast is a joy and wonderfully set out, we ate on our balcony in 32c of sunshine at 9.30 am. I can't promise you the sunshine and heat all the year round but I think it would be as great in the winter for so many other reasons so take advantage of that 50% off winter rates offer its a steal.
Even booking this property and parting with your money is a slick operation, you feel part of the AtlanticView family long before you arrive. I will go back - many times. If its on your short list, make it top - it Walks the Talk.
Most Romantic St Valentine's experience
We stayed in the Sunset Suite at the Atlanticview on St Valentine's day recently, which proved to be the most beautiful, romantic setting. The villa is designed and decorated to the highest standards with great style and amazing attention to every detail. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome.
Our stunning suite had an infinity pool directly in front, with spectacular views over camps bay, the lion's head and the twelve apostles behind. A gift bag and welcome letter lay on the bed when we arrived, inviting us to join the other guests in the lounge at sundown. We were served Champagne and canapes, while chatting to Greg and the other guests, and of course enjoying the beautiful african sunset. As it was St Valentine's day, we were also treated to a complimentary bottle of South African wine and Belgian chocolates.
Atlanticview was the best place we have ever stayed because of the attention to detail in every aspect of our stay. I would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Capetown. Well done and Thank you to all the staff, and Greg & Rainer on creating such a beautiful villa, it's perfect!

How to spoil your honeymoon
First the good bit. The views at Atlantic View are excellant. You have the Atlantic to the front and Table Mountain to the rear.
Now for the bad bit. When we booked we were offered the choice of a room in the main house or a suite in the new extension. Both where described by the owner as excellant (what a surprise!) so we decided to go for the room in the main house. What we were not told was that our room (along with a couple of others) was next to the area where breakfast was served and where people met to receive their complementary sun downers drinks. As a result of this we were kept awake at night and were woken at 7am by people preparing breakfast (breakfast is the only meal the hotel has facilities for by the way) When we complained about this we were told that we had been drinking with these people earlier in the night and we could have therefore gone out and asked them to be quiet. Do you really want to be doing this on your holiday? Is this not the job of the management?
If this wasn't enough the room that we were given had part of the maintain / a large rock within it as a feature. Unfortunately the blinds in the room were not the same shape as the rock. This meant that we had an enormous gap through which people could directly see in to our room and through which the sun streamed through, once again stopping us from sleeping. For most of the week we had to assemple a number of pillows at the window in order to give ourselves some privacy and some sleep. When we raised this with the management they dismissed the complaint and described us as 'shy people'.
We spent over £250 per night on our room. As a result the very least that we expected was a quiet room with some privacy and a management team that would try and make our stay as comfortable as possible. Atlantic view failed on all three!
Excellent accommodation & hospitality
Spent 5 nights here at the end of a trip down the Garden Route. Stayed in Room 5 which has gorgeous views of the sea and Table Mountain and has a bit more privacy than the others in the villa. The room isn't huge, but it's very comfortable and well equipped with a tremendous amount of storage space.
Having read the reviews of the property, we were slightly concerned that it might be achingly hip and trendy to the point of discomfort; hovever, this is far from the case and the owners Greg & Rainer are wonderfully relaxed and entertaining hosts. Camps Bay itself is a great spot and a good base for exploring Cape Town and the surrounding countryside.
We think this is one of the best choices in Cape Town if you want to combine beach and city life as the great restaurants in Camps Bay are only a 50 rand cab ride away yet you feel nicely cosseted away from the noise of the beach front.
My husband and I stayed at Atlantic View for 3 nights at the beginning of African Honeymoon. The views are to die for - the atlantic ocean spans out from the infinity pool. Sundowners with Greg and the team were a real treat - the staff were all really lovely and attentive. Other major bonuses were the location - Camps Bay has great resturaunts and a nice little bar scene for the young at heart and I will not forget how comfortable the bed was! A few little extra's from Atlantic View made the stay special - the perfect start to our holiday!
No need to look twice
Atlantic view was recommended to me by a discerning work colleague and once I looked at the web site it was simply a case of which room to go for - we went for The Rock Room which was great - full of character and very unusual. The views, service and atmosphere overall was outstanding and the management and staff could not do enough for you - their restaurant recommendations for Capetown and the wine area were excellent. A fabulous place for a week away from the UK - we stayed 4 days here and 3 in Franschoek, wish we had stayed a bit longer.
Room with a (Spectacular) View
Atlantic View is by far one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in, and we are frequent travelers. While the room was pricey, we found it to be worth every penny (although saying it was a bargain would be pushing it).
The staff is very accommodating and personable. When I see random criticism on here about the attitude of the staff, it makes me laugh because although there is a ring of truth to it, it is part of what we loved about the place. They do not have that deferential, subservient manner of staff in some nice hotels, and we found this refreshing. They are real people and actually interesting to talk to and have a drink with. Most importantly, you can thoroughly trust their opinion on where to eat, shop, go, and how to get there, etc. because they really know and love the city.
The views are incredible! The rooms are very spacious and clean. Nice workout center where you can burn off the delicious breakfast muffins and nightly cocktails served on the balcony overlooking the Atlantic.
Great place for the discerning traveler who likes their hotels to have personality. Skip it if you want to be waited on hand and foot by a bunch of uniformed drones. If that's what you want, stay at cape Grace, which is gorgeous but generic.
Superb Atlantic View
We had a fabulous holiday in South Africa and staying at Atlantic View in Camps Bay was one of the highlights. The view was stunning and the hotel was everything we could have expected. It is located conveniently close to the cable car for table mountain and is set back up the hill from Camps Bay beach. We thought Camps Bay was the best location in Cape Town and was not as developed as the other resorts.
The resturants in Camps Bay were very good and easy to get to by taxi provided by the hotel or private car.
The staff were friendly and attentive and we would not hesitate to stop here again should we visit South Africa.

Well - we, especially me, are pretty fussy about where we stay. So much so that we did not book our stays in advance. We were fortunate in that SA was quiet at the time. However, after some disappointing previews of other guest houses, for some reason, Atlanticview was our last choice.
On arrival. we were greeted by Greg, one of the owners, who made us feel immediatly welcome, he is justifiaby very proud of his "hobby"!
Then we were shown arond and given the option of two rooms - we took a suite - glad we did so as it really was spectacular, with everything we could need. As in previous reviews, views are stunning, especially with sundowners and canapes, watching the sunset! Also, I am not one for small talk, however, Greg was an excellent host and we felt like it was a gathering of friends after chatting with other guests - very unlike me to actually enjoy doing this!
We were guided as to where to eat and we were not disappointed - we went to a new italian place, however, we cannot remember the name of it! Again, I am not great with itakian food, however, this was really great tasting food.
On our return, our bed was covered in rose petals and a bottle of champagne was waiting for us! We felt like youngsters (we are 25 years married!) and it was just a treat.
Anyway, no compalints at all - everything is wonderfull in the guesthouse, views, decor, design, cleanliness and staff.
Don`t think twice, just go!
