Cosy double room for 5

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 29, 2010

We were pretty much there to sleep and we fitted five to a double room to save money, so very cheap stay!

Unique Quality: I think there was a pool and table tennis, but the bar closed quite early, which was a shame. Close to the waterfront, which is a good thing.

This is a great place. It was recently redone while I was there and my room with private bath was as nice as a hotel. Very clean. The bar was nice and the staff very friendly. Also the desk will arrange all your travel needs for you.

GREAT HOSTEL IN CAPETOWN

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 3, 2003

Big Blue Backpackers is quite a nice place. Itýs a large house with a pool and a pub. Nice place to stay, very clean and at a safe place. They have lots of tours (if you want to take any) and if you want to rent a car, ask at the front desk. You wonýt find any place cheaper.
Besides this, the place is very close to the Waterfront (5 blocks) and very close to Long Street, where all the Capetown nightlife is. Itýs the place to stay!!! You can find it at www.hostels.com

Unique Quality: Close to everything, has a pool, a pub, and quite a handful of helpful people. It has Internet conection that really works!!!

Directions: It's quite close to the V&A Waterfront

The Big Blue hostel, Vesperdene Rd, just off Main Street,a 10 minute walk to the waterfront or a 25 minute walk to the city centre. Situated in a safe location, the Big blue is a great hostel. It has big dorm rooms as well as double rooms. Dorms hold around 10-12 people and cost 70 rand in peak season, only 50 rand off season. It has a reasonable size pool, an excellent bar with the best barman in the world (this is for you Chris!), breakfasts and dinners as well as a kitchin for self catering, organises trips all over africa and down to the peninsula, a good tv room and a security gate to let you in 24 hours a day.

Unique Quality: The bar and Chris the barman make it. Chris knows Cape Town and will take you out each night for a good night. The bar opens at 5, closes at 12 and most people then go into town from there. Beer is cheap and they have sky TV. The peninsula tour they organise is very good value for money too!
