More about Derwent House Boutique Hotel

A wonderful place to stay.

by TripAdvisor Member WanderingJohnLondon

I stayed for five nights at Derwent House and would give it two thumbs up in every category. Originally, I just booked it for 2 nights and planned to look around the city and find somewhere different for the remaining 3 nights, but the welcome was so warm, the staff so efficient and friendly and the hotel itself so beautiful, that my girlfriend and I decided to stay on.

They arranged taxis to and from the airport, were very helpful with recommendations about what to do and where to eat… and the breakfasts were so delicious I think I put on about a stone. Well worth it!

Warmest welcome

by TripAdvisor Member NortumberlandKew

Stayed at Derwent House for three nights and its excellent location enabled us to walk everywhere and soak up the lovely town of Cape Town. The owners, Carole and Jo, could not have been more helpful and were extremely welcoming to our children. Food was delicious and all the extra info provided by our hosts meant a memorable stay in Cape Town and beyond, since when we travelled on to Franschhoek Carole had booked a table for us at a wonderful restaurant, Reubens. Many, many thanks.

Derwent House is a hard act to follow. It epitomizes excellence in decor, service and hospitality.

Our stay in Cape Town was made all the more enjoyable by the friendliness and efficiency of Jo and Carol as well as all their staff.

You are really made to feel at home and comfortable. I will recommend Derwent House any day of the week! Enjoy your stay.

The Place to Stay!

by TripAdvisor Member Clubmam

You know when you look at a website and then arrive at a place thinking 'Oh, my God, will it live up to expectations?' Well, at Derwent you will not be disappointed! From the great welcome on arrival to the sumptuous breakfasts each morning, Derwent House proved to be the perfect base for our visit to Cape Town. Its location is right at the heart of everything you would want to see with fantastic restaurants just around the corner. From all the other reviews on Tripadvisor you will know that the decor, whilst being stylish and contemporary, is also comfortable and relaxing and the pool and deck is to die for.

Just Brilliant!

Can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Derwent House. From the service with a smile to the beds that were really comfortable the whole place just oozed quality both in design and service. The staff were fantastic and Jo and Carol, the owners, couldn’t do enough to make our stay effortless from booking restaurants to organising car hire. We had a great holiday.

Outstanding

by TripAdvisor Member LordReithCambridge

We'd had the best 2 weeks holiday in South Africa, it couldn't get better - then it just did - when we arrived at Derwent House. The accommodation, decor and surroundings were just perfect - but the real surprise and pleasure was owners Carol and Jo whose hospitality, sensitivity and fun made our stay. Don't go there. We might not be able to get in next time.

The most fab time

by TripAdvisor Member 30WA

This hotel must be the best find ever. The rooms are superb in every way and the decor exquisite. Extremely tasteful, bright and cheerful this is a place to relax and have fun. The owners, Carol and Jo, are the most hospitable and take a pride in giving A1 recommendations for both planning your days and experiencing the best food and wine in and around town. The staff are fantastic, happy, cheerful and eager to please. Located a short distance from the centre this is a hugely personal experience and we will be returning. Great value.

The best...

by TripAdvisor Member LeedsDeansy

This hotel is the best that we have ever been to on an extensive travelling career. The decor, service and staff, ambience, and setting are all outstanding. The personal touches are magnificent...the turn down service where the electric blanket is swtiched on in winter, the cosiness of the living room, the welcoming nature of all the staff and owners.
The website cannot do justice to this little haven. It is exceptional in every way. Without doubt or hesitation we will make this my first choice location when visiting again.
Practically ... 2 minutes walk to Kloof Street where there are restaurants to suit all, underneath Table Mountain and a few minutes drive from the main highways out to the places to see. Parking outside was never a problem.
We don't know that any review can communicate the brilliance of the place and Jo and Carol's excellence.
A simple must.

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect..

Words cannot describe this hotel, you just need to stay there to soak it all up. We have travelled around the world and stayed at top 5 star hotels, none of them compare to the Derwent House. From the time we walked into the hotel to the time we left, everything was perfect. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us, it was really lovely to be greeted by our first names with big smiles every day. The room was perfect, with amazing views of Table Mountain from our bath tub!! The breakfast was incredible, so much choice for everyone. It was really lovely to sit by the fire in the evenings and relax with a glass of wine. Everyone who stayed there, felt so at home, we were given great advice on what tours to do and where to eat etc. All the recommendations were top notch. To summarise, I cannot say enough about this hotel except for if you don't stay there you are seriously missing out. We will definitely be returning and more than once. For a holiday of a lifetime and an extremly unique experience you need to stay here. Thank you, Carol, Jo and all the staff for an amazing time.
