Cape Town's international conference hotel

I didn't stay there but our conference was held there - well managed conference and great breakfasts! But the lunches were repetitive..

Unique Quality: Great view from the poolside!

Wonderful Stay

I would absolutely give this hotel my strongest recommendation. It is close to all the things that a person would want to do in and around Cape Town. It has unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean. The staff are friendly and efficient. The parking is adequate. In fact, I cannot think of anything that I didn't enjoy at this hotel.

Unique Quality: The view is spectacular - an added bonus is that one can sleep with the window open and have the sound of the ocean soothing you all night long.

The decor is light and airy and in my opinion is perfect for a seaside setting.

The staff are both friendly and efficient.

More about Protea Hotel President

One of Africa's Finest

by caslu about Protea Hotel President

Opened by Nelson Mandela himself, the Protea Hotel President is located in the trendy neighborhood of Bantry Bay. We found it luxurious but not unreasonably priced. Our room had views of both the Atlantic Ocean and the impressive Lion`s Head peak. Their Islands Restaurant was fine for breakfast and everything was no more than a short taxi ride away, although there was plenty in walking distance. In addition to a very nice pool, there were terrific views of the ocean and the mountains (if you're lucky like we were, you'll get a room with a view of both). The hotel isn't on the beach but the beach is only a block away as are many restaurants and shopping activities. Last, but not least, the staff was always friendly, attentive, and professional.

Hi, my husband and I stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and found it to be very nice. It had just been refurbished around then and therefore everything was very new. We were back in Cape Town 2 years ago and stayed at the Bay Hotel further along at Camps Bay which I really loved, this hotel was however more expensive. We are also heading out there again on the 10th Jan, but we are staying with friends this time. Have a great holiday, and try to go to the winelands if you get the chance. They are beautiful.
