steal from my safebox

They have stolen 900$ from my safebox!!! t was proved & the manager "Iris Hambloch" had the worst behavior toward us!!! even the porters in there, have access to your safebox & that is what I have found later!!! one of them gave the key to the cleaner to bring him the money!!!that is what the cleaner had confessed & only the cleaner was fired!!! & also there was no refund of money !I do feel sorry for the manager IRIS for her behavior more than that cleaner!!!
That was the worst vacation & hotel that I have ever been to!
DON EVER DARE TO GO THERE because the other staff have also claimed that it has happend in there before!!!

The obvious choice

The Ritz is among the most popular hotels in Cape Town, especially for middle class – tourists. It was built in the 1970s and surely was a top-class hotel in its heydays. Time hast left its traces on this building and some parts of it are in need for some refurbishment. Rooms were clean, with all the basic facilities you need, including a safe in the room and a TV (without remote control…). The hotel is part of the African Sky Hotels chain. It is very close to a street which has a couple of shops and restaurants (Main Road). There, you’ll also find a bus stop (also frequented by shared taxis) to the city center. A couple of meters downhill, at the ocea, you’ll find the bus stop for the service to V & A Waterfront. If you don’t mind a longer walk, you can also walk along the coastline and get there on your own feet.

Unique Quality: The stay here was great. The extensive breakfast buffet was delicious and offered warm and cold food. Staff is friendly and helpful and will try their best to make you feel comfortable. And the view from the upper floors is just incredible – the Atlantic Ocean and Lion’s head. I got the hotel through a special promoting from Expedia and it was more than worth its price.

Ritz

For the price paid,no complaines at all.

Good breakfast,well diversified
Nice pool area
Reception is pleasent
Good location, car needed if you stay longer, waterfront is a beat far to do everyday by foot

The only downside the rooms are a bite dated, needs renovation

NIce view of the ocean

I like The Ritz in Cape Town as it is located in Sea Point area and it offers a lovely view of the ocean. Prices are quite acceptable - from 35-50 euros depending of the season.
The hotel offers one of the best breakfasts. It is close to Town and for the tourists like me that like buying African souveniers - close to the Saturday Green Market.
Hope you will enjoy your stay there. I lived in The Ritz for 3 months and I really enjoyed it!

Unique Quality: The most beautiful sunsets can be seen from one of the windows of the hotel

Great views and staff

I didn't really care too much where I was staying in Cape Town. I had rented my own car and I knew I wanted to be close to the town. The Ritz, in Sea Point was just great for a jumping off point for the rest of the Western Cape. It was close enough to the main roads of the N1 and N2 plus it has great views of the waterfront and of Lion's Head. The rooms were very adequate and clean and just right. The staff there was so friendly and while sometimes they got swamped with people they handled everything with poise and patience!

Unique Quality: The restaurant at the top of the hotel actually rotates! It is really awesome and has some great views! It serves some local cuisine and some European/Mediterranean dishes. The breakfast buffet is open at 6:30am and you can get room service as well.

Over all this was a great place to stay. It is safe, the staff is great and they will really try to go out of their way for you, the guards really try to take care of you.

I had this as a package deal through Expedia.com and it worked out great. They are run through the company African Sky-Hotels, spas and resorts.

The Ritz

I stayed for a couple of nights in a triple room in this quite aged building. This hotel looked old but other than that i guess my night stays were quite satisfying. The interior of this hotel looked outdated talking in terms of fashion but i guess the view towards the Lion's Peak is OK.

I guess this is one of the cheapest hotel in town since the hotels in Cape Town are quite expensive.
Got thru an agent for RM 260.00 ( about USD65 )

During my check-in time, coincidentally the whole Cape Town was struck with a power failure.
I dont know about other hotels, but this hotel doesnt have its own generator for backup purposes.
No elevator operation during that one-hour or so and we have to climb up the stairs 4 floors.

Overall is quite cheap but can be better.

More about Ritz Hotel Cape Town

Loved the view

by TripAdvisor Member Chamian

We had a fantastic stay at the Ritz hotel, Cape Town. We could not believe the rate was so low even on New Year's Eve. Taking a Trip Advisor reviewer's advice we asked for a high floor and was given a room on the 18th, great for watching the sunset. We even had a sea view! The decor was a bit tired but everything was spotlessly clean. A lovely walk to the waterfront shops and restaurant along the sea front. This hotel is the best deal in Cape Town.

What a View!!

by TripAdvisor Member Mopley

We booked a three night stay at this hotel as it appeared to be good value and well located. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff attended to our every need, handling the cases and arranging parking for our rental car. The room was on the 15th floor and had a wonderful double aspect view of the ocean and shoreline. The room was clean, but the decor was plain and the bathroom needed a makeover. However, it was comfortable and everything worked. Each evening we dined in the revolving restaurant, this was the highlight. The food was excellent, as was the service and of course the view. The V & A Waterfront is a short distance away and can be reached by car or a very pleasant walk along the front. The 1st floor restaurant offers a wide ranging buffet breakfast and the terrace bar is comfortable for an afternoon/evening drink. We would recommend this hotel and would like to thank the staff for making our stay a pleasure.

Room with a view

by TripAdvisor Member Gadriye

Difficult to rate this one! Stayed here twice in February 2007 at beginning and end of Cape tour. I can't honestly say it would be the kind of hotel I would have chosen for myself, but it was OK.

The building itself is spectacularly ugly from the outside. But inside public areas were generally in good decorative order and well maintained. Staff were friendly.

Decor and furnishings in both rooms was tired, but rooms were very clean.

Amazing views though, particularly in first room, which was on a corner with windows on two sides looking out over Cape Town.

Small swimming pool at rear of building was a nice place to relax and cool off.

Breakfasts generally OK, with wide choice of items.

But the crowning glory of the Ritz has to be the revolving restaurant at the top of the building, which has fantastic views. For well under £15 you can have a amply-portioned, three-course dinner with wine while watching the sun go down over the ocean.
