Fully Inclusive Care Hire from Cape Town Airport

by stscormar

Hi.

We are travelling to South Africa for the first time and are spending 6 days in Cape Town this August.

Can anyone recommend a Car Hire company at Cape Town International Airport which provides cars on a fully inclusive basis (i.e. full comprehensive insurance with absolutely no excess to pay in the event of an own fault or no fault accident whether to the hire vehicle or to/by a third party; all fees/costs paid upfront; breakdown insurance included etc etc).

Basically, I would like to drive the car from the Airport and return it to the Airport with peace of mind that there is nothing else to pay (other than fuel or if I commit a road traffic violation etc).

Any advice/recommendations of good reputable car hire companies providing this type of arrangement would be much appreciated.

I very much doubt that any car hire company would totally absolve you from negligence on your part anywhere in the world. The standard big name car hire companies operate here and you can read their fine print contracts on their websites.

All the car hire companies that I have dealt with will pick you up from the airport (even if they're not based there) and most offer a fully comprehensive insurance option. Just do a web search. The one I use is Blue Dot Car Hire and have never had an issue with them. Things that are usually excluded are broken windows and missing hub caps (and this is fairly standard). You need to read the T&C's to determine what is and what isn't included. If it is excluded - ask them to quote you a price that includes it. The smaller companies are probably more flexible in this regard.

We usually purchase a car hire excess insurance (insurance4carhire) package before we leave the UK.

Last time we were in SA we damaged a car tyre and did have to replace it but we submitted the receipt to the insurance company and were plaid out without any question.

We also got 20% cashback on the policy via using a cash back site (search for quicdo or topcashback).

Have a good trip

Travel Tips for Cape Town

Feast on Seafood

by Rachel

Perched on the Atlantic Ocean, in an area rich with fish, Cape Town boasts excellent and inexpensive seafood. We feasted almost daily on lobsters, shrimp, calamari and so much more. And for a complete seafood dinner, you can expect to pay less than $20 (US). Enjoy!

Well you can drive through a place called Bothasig. They have a yearly competition whereby people go all out to decorate there homes with lots of Chrismas Lights and Decorations and the winner wins a Cash Prize of R50 000. Its very nice to see so its worth just taking a drive through here.

CAPETOWN NIGHTLIFE

by IIGUANA about LONG STREET & MORE

Long Street is the place to be if you want to party in Capetown. It has different pubs, discos and places to eat something quick. Just walk around and go inside the place you find the best for you. No coat required, but capetonians do like to dress to go out. A shirt and jeans it's ok. Don't even think of going out with shorts and tank tops. Either you won't meet anyone or you won't be able to go inside the pubs.
